My X5 has been leaking oil. I sent it to the garage and they can't seem to find where it comes from. Anybody have the same problem or suggestions? I know that it's not the power steering and the mechanic says that it may come from the oil pan. If it comes from the oil pan, he says that he has to take the trany appart. Is that so?

My X5 "check engine oil level" light has been coming on and it's only been 2 months since I got it changed. I don't see any puddles under the car so maybe the sensor is broke? But when I dump in a quart of castrol, the light goes away. Hmm, maybe I have a leak too. :conf

I don't know if this helps but I have a problem 2.

Minor oil leak, Oil is visable at the rear of the splash gaurd in the middle.

The first dealer I took it to said it was from a recent oil change and it was just a sloppy job

The Second Dealer actually found a problem. They have ordered me a part and I have yet to bring it in to see if it stops the leak

What they said was the housing that the oil filter screws into is bad and I need and entire housing replacement.


We will see what happends when I get it repaired...
