View Full Version : '95 540i 6spd for sale, Nicely maintained
rbmn9529 12-21-2004, 01:10 PM REDUCED! MUST SELL! 1995 (production date 9/95, so really a 1996, but no such thing as 1996 E34 in US) VIN# WBAHE5322SGA65392. 181K well-maintained miles, Immaculately maintained original Nikasil with regular synthetic oil changes. ALL RECEIPTS since original sale, Window sticker, leather swatch, all manuals (including BENTLEY that was recently purchased). Rare 6spd! 282 HP V8 with NO LEAKS! Seamless raw acceleration! What a screamer! Mtechnic sport suspension. 3-setting memory driver's seat. NEW: Radiator, coolant reservoir, and hoses... NEW: Thermostat, Thermostat housing, and gasket... NEW: Front struts (Bilstein Touring), strut bearings, upper and lower control arms and bushings/ball joints (all Lemforder), new Bosch O2 Sensors... NEW: Windshield (cracked replacing new wiper blades...ouch!)... NEW: Tires at 179K... Interior is immaculate gray upgraded leather with real burled walnut trim, exterior color is Alpenweiss III. Always garage kept and it shows! No accidents...EVERYTHING WORKS on this car except the headrest on the passenger side. A quick fix is found in the BMWE34.net website. Also, pics can be seen at: http://www.cardomain.com/id/rbmn9529 ...Let's talk about the Nikasil Issue. My car has a flawless 550RPM idle. At 181K, if something was going to happen, it probably would have by now. This car was perfectly maintained during its infancy. The nikasil "issue" seemed to have been caused by the high sulfer content of american fuels before 1997. With a company car, I am finding that owning a car like this is a luxury that I can't continue. I would NOW like $9850 for this car. I can be reached at 864-706-7787. Please contact me to discuss further.

bmwm3n528 12-23-2004, 03:22 PM Not bad, literally RIGHT before the M Technik 540i's were produced.
If anybody is scared away by the factory Nikasil, don't be...the late prod. Nikasils seems to be fine...I know more than a handful of M Techniks running around on their org. Nikasils, including ours...as long as they were maintained...if it's got over 100k, it's in most cases, a good one.
Bump for a nice car.
AutoCouture 12-23-2004, 06:43 PM nice lookin car!
sucks that you have the turn off of the nikasil issue as previously stated.........hell, if your car hasnt had any problems to date it wont so no body should worry
good luck with the sale

rbmn9529 12-23-2004, 07:02 PM One could circumsize a baby while sitting on the motor! Sure an Alusil would be more desirable, but I think it is more how the car is maintained early on than a nikasil issue. There are plenty of 535s and 525s having leakdown problems that are NON-nikasil related. Treat your car right and it will respond!
sprbxr 12-25-2004, 03:50 PM Do you have a better pic of the Driver's seat? What part of SC are you located?
Justin in VA
rbmn9529 12-25-2004, 05:46 PM I live in Spartanburg, SC; 4 hours from Raleigh, so 6+ hours from Richmond

tdwyatt 01-12-2005, 12:39 AM Extremely nice example of a truly wonderful car, I have drivne/ridden in this vehicle many times, well-maintained by a fanatic.
He has just replaced all the calipers, has SS brake lines, new brake pads, new struts, replaced the susp bushings and ball joints (steel type), reworked the cooling system, lots of other little goodies, there will not be missing odds and ends on this vehicle. Personally, I think this guy should work out the differences that have brought about the need for the sale, but I digress...
Awesome car for sale by an awesome guy in upstate SC
ss109 01-12-2005, 07:38 AM I would be interested but I don't think your asking price is very realistic for a car with 180k miles.
rbmn9529 01-12-2005, 02:18 PM You really have to see it to believe it. I didn't expect to sell it fast with it priced as listed, but it truly is in great shape and is worth the money.
Also, my good friend TDWyatt, who vouched for my car in the previous e-mail, is talking about an E30 that he helped me with when he talks about the brake work. The car for sale in this ad has stock brakes and lines. Thanks anyway, TD!!!
tdwyatt 01-12-2005, 02:45 PM Jeeze!!!
we do so many these days, they all l ook alike from underneath! They're all sweet!
Seriously nice cars through this guy's garage, such a fan(atic)!!!
schwarzIIe36 01-12-2005, 02:54 PM Is this car still available? I am in Upstate SC also.
rbmn9529 01-12-2005, 08:47 PM and the car is still available. Looks like you have quite a car yourself! Where do you live?
tdwyatt 01-14-2005, 03:27 AM bump for a great seller
bmw m3 s50 01-14-2005, 04:01 AM I didn't know the older 5 series came in 6-speed learn something new everyday
rbmn9529 01-14-2005, 08:04 AM to the US. They are relatively rare, but probably all are still on the road! Rarer still is the M540i sport.
bmw m3 s50 01-15-2005, 05:27 AM What is the m540i Sport
rbmn9529 01-15-2005, 08:29 AM it as an 540i Sport. See this website for info...

tdwyatt 01-15-2005, 09:57 AM www.bmwe34.net has an excellent walkthrough for 89-95 5 series for those of you that are serious about the vehicle (site is a little slow, so be patient). Again, I cannot say enough about this car,
IT IS AWESOME.

rbmn9529 01-18-2005, 01:36 PM ?
schwarzIIe36 01-18-2005, 03:02 PM This car is amazing! I checked this car out over the weekend and must say that the pictures do not do this car justice. I did check it out for myself but haven't decided if I have the funds for it at the moment. But for anyone else interested in this car you won't be disappointed. I don't think I have ever seen a cleaner car with that many miles. I could have done a white glove test over the whole car and it would have been clean. The paint is in fantastic shape with no damage even worth mentioning(only one or two chips). The interior is in great shape and still smells great. The car drove even better, the power was great and the car was rock solid. Looking at the car you would think it has 5k on it, it's that clean. You would never think it has the miles it does. The car is kept inside the garage away from the elements. I would love to see the owner keep the car, since it is a rare gem and in such great shape and also a local enthusiast to me. He is a super guy and very honest and pointed out everything about the car. If you are looking for a super clean rare E34 540i/6 this car is one of the best.
rbmn9529 01-18-2005, 06:33 PM (The check is in the mail...) :D
cleoent 01-18-2005, 07:47 PM you have a PM.
tdwyatt 01-18-2005, 09:46 PM This car is amazing! I checked this car out over the weekend and must say that the pictures do not do this car justice... ...I would love to see the owner keep the car, since it is a rare gem and in such great shape and also a local enthusiast to me.yeah Schwartz, me too. I have been talking to him about keeping this super car, as he has put a lot of himself into the car. We might just have to take up a collection (either that or start picking up cans... :rolleyes ) to keep this car in the upstate.
schwarzIIe36 01-18-2005, 10:26 PM tdwyatt- LOL, I have a whole sack of cans in my garage to start off the collection. There already seems to be a lack of BMW interest here in the Upstate, I would hate to see this car leave. Not to get off topic but I might be trying to start somekind of Upstate BMW group or just some drives or something to start up something that is local.
540i6sport 01-18-2005, 10:34 PM Man, if I just had the cash right now. I think your asking price is definitely fair but having the ol' "touchy feely" makes all the diff.
Best of luck with the sale!
bmwm3n528 01-18-2005, 11:18 PM ?
At this point yes, because we've not had a lick of white stuff here. Very mild winters.
tdwyatt 01-19-2005, 01:03 AM yeah, we don't have to put the cars up for the winter. They hardly ever salt the roads here, sand on the bridges occasionally, but I know that the owner of this car won't drive it in the rain (then again, unless I get caught out in it, neither do I).
It is NOT a daily driver, although is is a great car to use as such. rbmn9529 drives a company car (but the bimmer is a good impression car for the folks he sees!)
:D
rbmn9529 01-19-2005, 07:49 AM :D
I have set up an account at First Citizens bank: "Save the Bimmer" Donations, unfortunately, are not tax deductable...
Colin, Have you joined the BMW club in the Upstate? THey meet at Logans Roadhouse off of Pelham in Greenville the second tuesday of each month. Some new and old car owners mixed together that both appreciate BMWs. ALso, I am sure you could get TDwyatt to talk some smack about cars. send him a personal message and ask him where he works so that you can stop by once in a while, like I do, to talk about our cars (it is part of my job, a cross I must bear). He is never very busy... :rolleyes
tdwyatt 01-19-2005, 01:04 PM ...He is never very busy... :rolleyes
HEH! Careful doode, Karma happens!
:D btw, The Greenville club has a first-of-the-year driving event out at the performance center at the BMW plant sometime last week, was supposed to be a great social, unfortunately I couldn't go, but it is the calibre of events that are offerred through the club. Everyone in the Upstate should at least get on the mailing list. Drop me an email and I'll send you the info.
BTW, to stay OT, I understand that this awesome car is still available... :rolleyes
...just don't tell the Mrs. and quietly withdraw it from consideration...
