When I do a normal brake bleed, does that also bleed the brake master cylinder? Or is there a seperate procedure for bleeding air out of the brake master cylinder ??

I see the MC is mounted at an angle (front is up), does that trap air in the front end of the MC?

In case you're thinking it, yep, I let the reservoir run dry :D Next time I know to take out the green sleeve that sits inside of the reservoir opening. :D

Note: I did a search and could not find the answer

Thanks

Fluid passes from the resevoir through the MC and ABS unit and to the brakes. So bleeding it normally does flush out the MC.

You might try to be sure you get all the air out of the ABS or the pedal will be spongey. Pressure bleeding at 26 psi will usually avoid this but since you let the brake fluid go below the MC you might have air in the ABS. I think the best way to cycle the ABS is to do some agressive stops which will activate the ABS and pump the fluid and some air out. After you have everything bleed and drive the car try and determine if you have a spongey feel which of course if the air being compressed in the brake system someplace and that would be the ABS if you have eliminated all other possibilities like the lines, calipers.
Hope this helps

If you get air in the ABS, might be best to have a dealer do the job. They have the diag tools to actuate the ABS pump so it gets bled also. You DON"T want to lose your brakes,if a bubble moves into the brake line from the ABS pump.

Anyone every heard of a "hack" to make the ABS motor/pump run at home?

Once I realized I did it, I re-bled everthing. Thankfully it is no worse than it was before I started. I've activated the ABS numerous times since and it still seems ok.
