Do you have your car on? I would pop the switch out and make sure everything is still connected. Sometimes if the clip is not snaped on it can rattle loose. Also make sure your high beams aren't on.

you need to have the parking lights on to have the fog light function at all. what i would do is check fuses, then check the bulbs in the fog lights, then check the bulb in the fog light indicator spot in the cluster. the fuses and bulbs for the fog lights should tell you a lot.

i had the same thing happen, and it was the fuse...check that first. Easy fix

where is the fuse located for the fog lights, is it in the fuse box?

it is in the fuse box under the hood...on my car it was fuse #15 but double check on your car.

make sure ur highbeams are working as well... if ur highbeams are not plugged in or the bulbs are out, the fogs will not light up.

Fuse. That's exactly what happened to the rear fogs on my car.

Yuen: Most of the cars over here have front fogs. Do you guys go backward enough to need Rear Fogs??\

Later.....boy have I just been educated!! There really is such a thing as "rear fogs"!!!! I just got throught reading an article in the e39 forum in UnofficialBimmer.com that talked about how to hook them up. Yuen: my sincerest applogy for the smartass commit!! Bobertsr

both blubs in the high-beams were burnt out, replaced them and foglights work now!

This is probably not your problem but I just had a 525 come through the shop that had the wiring to the fog lights damaged by rodents.
The mice chewed through the wiring down under the components in the engine bay in a spot that was not at all readily visible.
All electrical testing finally confirmed that it could only be a problem with the wiring harness and upon visual inspection, inch by inch, the damage was revealed.
Threw me a little bit of a curve ball, one light had voltage but would not light, the other light had no voltage. On the one light the mice had chewed through the ground wire only, so you had power, but no ground! Vice-versa on the other light. On the drivers side they had also chewed through the wiring for the side marker lamp.
This car happens to be in storage every year for approximately four months of winter. The owner happened to be doing basic maintenance and cleaning and discovered that the fog lights were not working. The fog lights had never been a problem before this time.
Presumably the mice took up residence during the storage period.

Thats what happens when you use flavored wires.
