I ran out of Meguiars Gold Class and the other bottle I bought was Pinnacle auto shampoo so I used that the last two times I washed my car.

The Pinnacle stuff does not sud anywhere near as much as the meguiars. I added alot more to the bucket the 2nd time I washed to see if it made a difference but did not acheive the suds I got with meguiars.

Does this make the Meguiars a better (safer?) brand to use in this case?

I don't you can do much better than Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo. That stuff is the best I've ever used. That's my experience. :cool

Technically, suds do not equal cleaning power, safety, gentleness etc. Suds are more for looks/marketing, than anything. To judge the effictiveness of a car wash, I usually pay attention to how well my mitt glides over surface when washing. Lubricity is far more important than suds. And suds have no effect on lubricity.

I love mothers! I use that stuff all the time! I think you'll really like it. Gold class is more popualr because you can get it in gallon jugs for 10 bucks. But mothers is great stuff.

Gold Class is only $6 for the jug.

Also, how much should I use on a regular car wash?

My mistake. I don't live in the USA. Last time I heard it was aroud 10.

How much to use? Depends. I always use more to increase lubricity. Though some people find the standard 2 capfulls just fine.

Yeah, it's about $6 at the right place anyway. $10 at others. I really like the Gold Class soap. Huge difference from the cheap crap I used to use (before I really new how to clean a car). I recently bought some of the new Meguiers NXT soap (didn't have Gold Class where I went). It seems very good as well. Both the NXT and Gold Class feel very smooth while washing. I've been very happy with them. Only difference with the NXT is it claims to have water softening agents added to reduce water-spots, whatever.

Kragen has it for $8 per 64 oz jug, they also have Deep Crystal for $5.49 per 64oz.
Much difference between the DC and GC?
