my friend got a 2002 745 and ha problems with gauge cluster where the mph is.somtimes it lights up and shows the milage and sometimes it won't.Is this normal? if not what do you think is the problem

The button on the top of the turn signal stalk can be used to switch between mpg, mileage, etc. on the right side display

When the car is started, I believe it always shows the mileage and then switches to whatever display is selected via the computer (turn signal selector).

Incidently, the bottom button the on the turn signal stalk controls the display on the left side.
