View Full Version : My search for a new 7 begins!
99bmw740il 12-11-2004, 04:24 PM I'm looking for an 01' 740il/750il (pref) or an 04' 745li. Where are all the 750's? No dealership anywhere around me has one and i lust for that thing, preferably in stratus grey, or anthracite, royal red will do too ;) If my search comes up on nothing then im just gonna settle and buy a 745. Im getting rid of that damn merc to, just got the first insurance bill and theres no way in HELL im paying that ridiculous amount a month for that car, about $750 a month! :mad
Im not looking to buy on ebay though. Any color recomendations? Does the 750 sport have the sport steering wheel? My nearest dealer only has 4 7's and they all have 0 features i want.
Note: I learned my lesson, dont buy a race car with a really bad driving record...

You didn't check insurance prices BEFORE buying the car? Dude.
As for the 750, E-bay usually doesn't have more than 2 or 3. Same with autotrader.com. There's an anthracite for sale in Seattle. I'll keep an eye out in the local paper if you wish. The 750 does not have the sport steering wheel or seats. Other than that, if you get an '01 it should have just about every option available. Get a late model year for the widescreen NAV.
immaculate 12-11-2004, 10:51 PM ouch bad times buddy. definitely go for a 750. i'll keep an eye out for you too. there was an older gentleman selling a black '01 750 in my apartment complex a little while ago. we stopped and chatted about it and he was pretty friendly. it had low miles (about 37k) and he wanted $40 for it, which i thought was a pretty good deal. he now has a 760Li, also black :D
insurance is savage. i'm juggling the possibility of getting a 997S and the insurance is really the only thing holding me back. bad times.
happy hunting!

2001IL 12-11-2004, 11:05 PM The 2001 740s and 750s are in very, very short supply. The major Atlanta BMW dealers only have one car in stock. A city of almost 5 million people and only one car! I read an article in a magazine about how the 2002+ design disappointments with new car buyers have made the 2001 so popular that their prices are going up rather than the usual decline. I hope BMW gets it right next time! I’d like to get another new 7 someday! I can’t imagine how BMW could invent a car as beautiful as the 740/750 and then design a car that looks like a big fat ugly Nissan Maxima for 2002+. I assume they fired the guy that made that disastrous mistake.
sealbeach740 12-11-2004, 11:54 PM Crevier has a 2004 745 on their website. 9k miles. Not sure what insurance would be though.
stever 12-12-2004, 12:08 AM I'm sorry to hear you have to get rid of the CLK 55 already. Didn't you just buy that a month ago? Aren't you going to take a bath on it, more than the amount that the insurance would set you back? I'm guessing that it didn't live up to your expectations in other ways or you wouldn't be willing to let go of it so quickly. Can you tell us about that?
Going with a 750il sport sounds like a great idea! I was very close to getting a royal red one myself. They are dynamite looking and have fantastic goodies included with them. It's a bit too big for me, or I would have gone for it.
Good luck with your search. Just when you're about to give up, you'll most likely find one for sale. That's what happened to me. It will be worth travelling to get a good 750il if you can't find one locally. I had to fly to NY to get my 7.

And the insurance on the 03/04 Li is going to be cheaper than that? Dude, do yourself a favor and get quotes for the car your thinking on buying, BEFORE you buy it. :rolleyes
