I just thought the road racers might be interested. The Pirelli PZero Corsas (255-40-17) are on sale for only $128/ea right now at the Tire Rack. Looks like a good deal!

damn that is a good price. Anyone know how they compare to RA-1's, victos, and Dunlops for grip / life?

Matt,

Garrett (Mad Dog 20/20) uses Corsas at the track, he said he really liked them-good breakaway and communicative. I don't know if he's used Victos or RA1s as comparison though...

I ordered them. That is about half price. From another list I heard not quite as good as Pilot Sports but not bad either.

Good tires. But remember that they are totally direction & side-to-side specific. You can't more them around & rotate them as you can with RA1's & V700's.

I ordered a set, $610 shaved and shipped. I was thinking about those cheap bridgestones but these are just as cheap. The TireRace guy said these might be a hair faster than a victoracer and they'll last a little longer. The Hoosier and MPSC are faster tires.

What prevents a side to side swap? Just curious, I can get by with front to rear.

I run them. 255/35/18, shaved and cycled. I like them. You can run them in any direction, so long as the "outside" shoulder is on the outside. It will affect nothing but wet ability.
They are the only R-comp I have ever run, so I have nothing to compare them with, except street tires.
Compared to a Pirelli Nero (which I think is the best street tire around for track use), the Corsa is better in every possible way, but not enough to justify the price differential (at that time). I expected a bigger difference between the two. The response and turn-in is razor sharp and grip is better. Break-away is very similar to a street tire and very progressive/controllable. They seem to be very light, and run wide, as well.

I burned and chunked the outside front tire the first time I used them, which was on a very hot day (I prolly did not have appropriate pressure). Otherwise, they have held-up well.

I will likely try something else, next time.

The MPSC is said to be superior, but with more abrupt break-away. The Dunlop is said to be marginally inferior to the Corsa, but with even more communication and gentle break-away.

At this current special price, i think they are an excellent choice.

So there is an "outside" shoulder? No flipping then?

Yeah, the outside shoulder is beefed-up and has a much lower tread depth.
