I did a search and got nothing. I want the biggest stickiest tires for the rear of an E36 M3. I really want drag radials like the Nitto 555 DR or BFG in 18". At this point, I will take any wheel or tire that will fit under the rear as long as it is super sticky. Auto-X maybe? Rolling the fenders or using spacers are no problem. Any recommendations for wheels to hold the tires? Many thanks. :alright

for draging you pretty much want the biggest sidewall, 18in rims arent gonna do anything but hurt you can 15's clear the rear brakes? i know 16's def will. for the "stickest" r compounds have a stiff sidewall and will hurt drag racing. if it doesent need to be a street tire call up m&h tires and get some slicks

a drag radial makes a horrible autocross tire. Likewise, a good autocross tire will probably make a horrible drag tire. Very different sidewall requirements for each.
Also, but not to restart the topic again, tire width does not equate to grip.

actually the nitto drag radials makes a very good autocross tire.
But, to the orignator of this thread, do you want straightline sticky or twisty stick? If you want twisty sticky then the 275/17 Kumho 710 autocross tire is probably the way to go.
otherwise youll want a full drag race slick.
both of these options will last not long at all =)

I agree, liked the 555R , very sticky quick, but its not that great for dragracing. Also, there was a 911 running 9s a few years back on RA1s. But no DOT tires compare to real drag slicks.
