I recently sold my '95 M3 due to high mileage, I was looking for something new. I saw a 2001 330i w/sport package, 5 spd, 4 door. Would a car like this be good for driving schools? I am a intermediate driver. Or would a 330ci be a better choice? Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Hmm, I bought a higher mileage '95 M3 a few years back for use as a track car.
So far, no complaints.

The 4 door would make a nice car that you can daily driver and also bring to the track. But as with all cars that go on the track,it'll need some modifications to withstand the track use...if you really wanted to keep it simple, a set of r comps and pads/fluid might be all you need.

However, if you do nothing else with it other then maybe some shocks/springs, do the rear diff, thats the one thing I'd change on the car. 3.46 lsd seems to be a good one for those.

Oh and maybe a Short Shifter, the shifter on my brothers ZHP is a friggin rowboat!

will this car double as a daily driver, a weekend warrior or just a dedicated track car?

It will be a daily driver as well.

Let me rephrase the question, I need a daily driver, that I can take clients out in, and something that I can take to drivers schools. I had a '95 M3 and it was an awesome car. It had over 100k and it was getting a little worn. The car had a S.S. exhaust, a TMS intake kit, and some other mods, I think I need something -dare I say it- a little more sophisticated. I am not opposed to an E46 M3, but the 330i caught my attention, especially the price. I really like the look of the 4 door too. I was just wondering how much of a performer a 330 is? Which is a better track car,a 330i or a 330ci. I've read that the e36 4 door is a better track car because of the frame, was wondering if the same is true for the E46 4 door. Thanks again.

330i (sedan is good for client hauling off the track and hauling ass on the track...) ;) :)

Any BMW 330 or Lexus IS300 would be great.
