I've been running 17x8.5s with 255/40/17 Victos. I really like this setup, but I am getting some lighter wheels this year. I dont want to run Hoo Hoo or 710s because I need to get a season out of my tires. So my question is should I stay with 17s and 255s or go to 18s and ? tire size.
Thanks
17's with 255 victos will last all season. No need to jump to 18's if you do not want to take advantage of the 710's or hoosiers.

17s with 255 victos work well enough for me to get FTD at autocrosses in a wimpy 325i.....
don't see any reason to spend money on 18s

The other issue is that I hear Victos are going to be discontinued and V700s dont come in 255s, so is there a reason to go to 18s and have other options for the future.

STOCK UP ON VICTOS!
haha
I don't know, if you take victos out of the equation theres a whole lot of odd tires to try. Youll just have to take a look at the available sizes.

I heard the opposite that the Ecsta's will be discontinued... Let's hope that is true rather than the victo's, which IMO is a better tire.
As others have said, if you are not going to run the top tires, it is better to stay with the 17's as they are cheaper.

are the ecstas the 711s and 712s?
he is talking about the ecsta v700 r-compound tires. they are different from the 711's or 712's.
