I think that the best way to punish Lemans and ALMS for getting rid of the BMW effort is to declare a ten year boycott of their competitions.
Admittedly, they are probably more willing to listen to Porsche as Porsche does not leave the series after winning like BMW does. But if BMW were to just return next year, what would that prove, except that BMW has to kowtow to whatever the porsche guys dictate. And as the porsche has better aerodynamics, the BMW will always have to push the rules farther on the engine side to make a competitive car.
Although I will miss seeing BMW at Petite Lemans this year, and seeing what a new M3 could look like when given the full race treatment, that is okay. Personally my attention has been focused on F1 racing and the driving schools I go to myself. I will attempt to beat Porsche Boxsters on the track with my fifteen year old 325is and modify it until that happens.

Theoretically.

But if you were racing in either of these classes would you want
a 10 year ban?

Boxters are for girls anyway.

The other question is why not just move it up into the GTS category? Using the M5 V8 as a starting point couldn't have been too bad of a car.

And you can't show off the engine:(

Say what you want, the Boxter is still the Poor Man's Porsche. I love seeing all those middle aged fags driving around in them thinking they are driving a real Porsche. They look at my Bimmer like I'm a piece of crap.

Very good point.
