i know,TRX's are not worth it,but they were only $20 for the set.i couldn't let the deal slip without buying them.i have 7 spoke,225/50/15 aftermarket rims right now that look good, but i want a factory set.something that fits and looks as it should.if anyone has a set of TRX(or even 255/50/15) tires to fit the rims i have now,i'll purchase them,as well as,'good'used control arms.
believe me,i get by as cheaply as possible on maintaining and repairing any car i own,or have ever owned.i refuse to be ripped off.i'm always seaching for the right price.
if anyone owning a bimmer doesn't look for the 'right price' ,well, you're paying too much!!!!
it can cost way too much to pay the advertised $$$$$$$$.
the mere mention that it is a BMW,causes the cost to multiply.
i will, and have, been able to maintain and drive a bimmer, without forking the escalated $$$$$$ that some want to take advantage of.

You would be better off selling them individually on ebay, and buying a new set of non TRX wheels.
TRX tires are EXTREMELY expensive for what you get. I dont mean to be a bubble burster, but you are not really saving money by using the TRXs. Its like driving 40 minutes to save 8 cents per gallon of gas.

funk,i know the TRX's are not the desireable rim to have.the ad has been in the local parts mag for a while.the guy was moving and said they were going to be disposed of.for $20 i thought i could not go wrong even knowing the cost of tires, which i have no intent on putting new ones on.that's the reason of the post, inexpensive replacement tires.i have great looking aftermarket rims but i dont know if they're hub-centric.only trying to get cheap temporary test tires.i'll buy $99 straight, universal rims if that's what i have to do.
i just want to get this baby rollin' 'NOW' with-out the present wheel problems.
i guess you could say say i'm a pack rat with all the spares i have for even the 2 960's i currently have on the road.it's been that way with each car i've driven.
i monitor e-bay,but i've never bought or sold there.

ive got a set of 16" Borbet Type H's, Im willing to make a sweet deal ($375 for all 4, one needs a new tire, but you could drive on it carefully for quite a few miles), or I have a set of stock 15"ers that I will get rid of for $200 (one or two needs tires). MUCH less expensive options.
Its very hard to find TRX tires that are in usable condition.
I have one TRX tire/wheel for $49. The tire has even wear and about 1/3 of the tread remaining. I also have a 390 TRX spare in my M6 parts car. From what I know the tread is like new (but I havent seen it with my own eyes. I will know more next week). Im asking $175 for that one.
let me know, I can get you pics of any/all of them.

Rubber ages as and the effectiveness of it gripping the road becomes an issue. I think it would be dangerous for you to be installing used old tires.
I actually sold my other six because the cost to replace the set of 4 which is over $600. You will be lucky you find this type of tire under $150. I was able to get replacement rims and new set of tires for the same $600.
I would put TRX 390's only if you are planning to restore the car to original condition and not plan to use it and display the car in a museum. BTW the car hates not being driven....

hey funk, the 15inchers would be my best bet.going to have to wait for christmas to pass before any more big purchases.the TRX'S came off a 535 and look different than the spare i have in the trunk.
ebantgui, your right about putting on old tires.
i knew i shouldn't have done it,but for $20 and a $10 bently,i'll trade off the rims sometime,i'll just store them with the other 10 or so rims i already have.
