anyone upgrade their control arms and still have a decent set that was taken off?i fully intend to replace my whole front suspension when the opportunity arises(when the wallet gets fatter).
in the meantime,i'll purchase any tight and functional components from you.i want to enjoy driving my 6 and test reliability.plain originals will do for now.
the exhaust and P/S issues have been addressed, now it's time to get this shark on the prowl.there's still areas that need attention, but it needs to be tight and safe.just think of it as beautifying america, another 6 on the road.
thanks dave.

just to add a note.i'm fully aware that bimmer ownership does mean dropping dropping a few $$$$$,otherwise it's the wrong automobile to own.however,2 more birthdays to celebrate and christmas just around the corner,i'm watching where the money goes.let' just call it being impatient.i'm ready to start driving.it's been a year and 1/2 since i let the E30 go.

come on guys, someone has these babies gathering dust on the shelf.you'll be freeing up space.i don't want to to do the job a 2nd time when i aquire new parts(i'd do the work just to cruise),i just want to drive the 6 and maybe attend S.E. sharkfest.there's no way i'd put this 6 on hwy. as it is now.

I had considered trying to find used control arms as well, but ended up buying a pair brand new on eBay for $75 a couple months ago. I still have the old set lying around, but the ball joints are s-h-o-t, which is why I suspect most people swap them out in the first place. Is saving a few bucks on critical front end parts really worth the effort?

I did the same thing. I am just waiting for the time to replace the ones I just purchased. It cost more labor (unless you have a remover for the control arms. ($150 - 175) or know someone who has a press to press out the bushing. But then how about the ball joint part. Nah... just buy a new part. Its cheaper and easier to replace the whole thing.

$75 for a pair,i'll wait for a deal like that.there's still a few more things i can do with the car while waiting.it's like the Tom Petty song-the waiting is the hardest part.
i know it's best to install new and not used.i'll just start with originals 1st and get the upgrades later.i still want to put original springs on also(it's been lowered with HR's)i want to know how the car handles originally from the factory,it'll save the tires from wearing as quickly also, all 4 are worn on the inside.it sits low,it looks good but it puts undue stress on the suspension.

Yep, More stress on the car. You know its old so... stress is not a good option. If you want a race car be ready to spend for better shocks, springs , strut support etc, etc, etc,... Money, more money and I dont even race either....

it wont be a race car, just a stock original(without TRX's) when i'm done with it.once you start modding,it creates a new set of issues.i had my fun building chevy 350's and putting the latest and greatest parts on.an original 6 will be enough for me.the 6 is a 'classic',sports luxury cruiser,in my eyes.
