Well, my SRS light is on again, which I guess will save Owen the trouble of tripping it at Aloha 500. I tried the SRS reset tool that Reid donated to the club (thanks again Reid!) but it didn't work.

Has anyone had a persistent fault light? Desmo?
Will disconnecting the battery reset the sensor so that it can be shut off? I did a search, but nothing on a persistent light that will not reset.

BTW, I tried to pull the light bulb, but BMW saw fit to put a SECOND light bulb in there that can't be reached to remove. Funny that they choose to design a redundant system for a fault light which the dealer asks an arm and a leg to repair! :nono :rolleyes

If you disconnect the battery, you have to leave it disconnected for several hours so any residual charge will drain.

There is another possibility. Did you check all the connections under the seat? Sometimes, a connector might have wiggled loose, or it may be grounding against something.

Just take the car to the dealer and have them fix the damned thing. Better safe than sorry as you want your airbags to deploy when they are supposed to.

Anyway, do not bring that car to Aloha 500 if the SRS light is on.

heh so that's how they do it.
(related topic) i used to be amused at how there is a CEL fault code for the CEL itself (obd 1)... and how there is an ABS fault code for the ABS lamp itself...
lol now we know.

what was the fault?

It's the pre-tensioner on the passenger side. I've had to reset it a couple times this weekend, but hopefully its the tracking which is tripping the light and it will stay off during "normal" driving. I hate taking the car in for service. :mad
