I have a 2001 X5 with 80,000 miles. Crazy I know. I just purchased a 3 year 36,000 comprehensive warrenty on it so I guess I'm o,k for a while. However, do you guys know generally when BMW start having huge problems, and also will it be ok to run another ...say 60k without any major problems?

Question, how much was your warranty and where did you get it?

Did you purchase a 3.0 or 4.4 engine?
Also, what type of driving has your X5 seen? Are the miles highway miles or city miles? Did you order a pre-purchase inspection?
80,000 miles should not be a concern if the X5 was properly maintained. :alright

I just purchased my X5 it is a 4.4I with 43,000 miles. My warranty is going to expire next year june or 50,000. I just bought a warranty (30 day money back gurantee) and is still contemplating buy it. It is a bumper to bumper 6/100,000 mile warranty for 2598.00. I was wondering if it is worth it?!?! I do not think that I will keep the X5 for 6 years. Do you guys or anyone out there have real issues and has spent over 2500 dollars on their X5?!?!

I thought my mileage is bad .. well its not that bad. 72,000 on a 00'.
