Anyone have experience with this. Have a 2002 M3 but would like to add the 2004 navigation radio. Anyone seen this or know if it can be done. The dealer is a big waste 'o time.

So you want to add Nav to your non-Nav M3? It can be done but it's $$$$, say ~$3500. I haven't done this, but I know someone who knows this stuff. There's a hard way and an easy way. I hear the hard way requires you to replace the entire stereo radio harness. The easy way is done by using a euro harness that is PnP. So that portion of the DIY is made easier.

Hmmm, I'd sure like to hear more about the "PnP" method. I've also found this....

http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/product.jsp?productTypeId=37&sortBy=price&productLineId=1&productId=2557#

which is completely indash and most likely would not appear too hokey. Heck, it even has the red illumination. I would have to remount the AC controls below but I don't think that will be that big a deal. I still have to get the steering whell controls to work but I'm thinking that something like...

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-mTirhKokNxp/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=127SWIX

might work.

As it is, the radio/satellite/nav/wheel-control combo is about $2500 (Crutchfield, of course can get cheaper) so $3500 for a true 2004 BMW is not out of the question.

Thanks again for your insight, argento, if u have any more nfo about the "PnP" or come across anything else, I would love to hear about it.
