View Full Version : Need opinions on exhaust
333inlinesix 11-18-2004, 02:36 PM I know this has been beaten to death, but I think I narrowed it down to two exhaust systems. I want something that isnt going to be too loud(unbearable when cruising) and I do not want something that doesnt really make any change in tone above 3500 rpms. I cannot find any sound clips of a remus exhaust on an e46 m3, and the borla looks appealing, but I need to know from first hand experience on what each sounds like. Can anyone help? Thanks.
I absolutely love my Borla. Here's a short video clip from my last TimeTrial event at the Glenn. Not the best sound clip, but you can hear the sound of the car approaching and on downshifts.

Check out this site, there are many sound and video clips of various exhausts. Oh yeah and the Remus one is mine. Just to let you know I also have the SS X-pipe w/o resonator on it.

333inlinesix 11-19-2004, 11:09 AM Thanks! Did you ever have the remus before you got the x pipe? If so, how much different was it from stock?
Here's an old file of mine...Dinan w/ Eisenman sections 1 & 2

Well, I am looking to get the remus since it looks to be one of the less expensive mufflers and i like the dtm style tips, but how much?

I got them installed 2 months ago. Paid $1,600 + tax + labor. I would probably ask $1,200 shipped.
333inlinesix 11-19-2004, 04:22 PM Thanks anyway, but its a little out of my price range.

No I put them on at the same time. The X pipe is supposed to give better flow and give a little louder deeper growl. I believe that is does just that and as for more free flowing I'm it is but it hard to tell. It "feels" like ti breathes a little better, but I dont' know for sure. I wanted it to breathe better, but was more looking for sound than anything.
The Stebro section 1 will be put on next week and that will get rid of the rasp. I don't know if that will effect the current sound or not, I will let you know.

$450 +shipping! I would jump on that fast if I didn't already have a Remus.
dtmbimmer 11-21-2004, 01:32 PM Eisenmann all the way......if not then the Tubi sounds nice......most of the others dont get that deep of a sound and are to raspy....my opinion though

The problem w/ the eisenmann is that its too expensive, how much is the tubi?
TSsat 11-21-2004, 05:07 PM The problem w/ the eisenmann is that its too expensive, how much is the tubi?
Tubi is expensive! New around $1700 There is one for sale I think on this board that is selling a used one with 10k miles for 1k I think. Tubi does sound nice IF you get their midpipe also which is like $800-900.
There are Tubi clips on the the website I sent you.
And the Remus is just as deep as the Eisenmann, it just doesn't have the little "burble" it is smoother in it's sound.
But yes Eisen sounds nice but again $1500. And from whatt I have read from many in the the welds can be questionable at times.
Remus welds were amazingly perfect.
