OK, so I have some wheels and tires that came from a E34 ( 5 series ) and there is someone with an E39 and he is asking me if they would fit.

Thanks in advance :)

Stock e34 wheels will not fit an e39; the hub bore is the wrong size - e34 is 1.5mm smaller.

If they are aftermarket wheels, most mfr's make one wheel for both the e34 and e39 and use a 1.5mm thick hubcentric spacer on the e34.

In short, if they're stock, they shouldn't fit. If they're aftermarket, they should - just remove the spacer.

So stock E39 wheels should fit on an E34 with the 1.5 mm spacer. Correct?

It's actually a hubcentric ring. You can use the word spacer, but it may confuse people as most think a spacer will go between the rotor hat and the wheel. The hub ring will go between the wheel hub of the vehicle and the hub bore on the wheel.

You can pick up a set of 4 for $20 at www.tirerack.com ... or for around $15 from www.discounttiredirect.com ... You'll have to call their toll free numbers and speak to a customer service rep (I doubt you'll ever find them searching the websites)...just ask for hubcentric rings...they'll ask info about your car for verification...and they'll be shipped straight to your mail box. :)

(the pic below is what the hub centric rings look like to mount an e39 wheel onto an e28/e34/e60 5 series...e24//e63/e64 6 series...e23/e32/e38/e65/e66 7 series...or e31 8 series) If you're a smart cookie...you'll recognize that the modern 5/6/7/8 series all have the same 72.5mm wheel hub with the e39 5 series being the oddball with a 74.1mm hub. Don't know why BMW did that....:rolleyes
