I was headed to a friend's house and a black Si (sounded modded) thought he could run with me since I was in a hurry. We got to a stoplight and we were both in the turn lane and when the light turned green, I took the inside lane and then he took off on the outside lane. I let him go ahead and then I punched it and, right before his lane merged into mine, I passed him, forcing him to slam on his breaks to avoid going into a ditch. My passenger looked at me and informed me that this dude bit off more than he could chew.

OK, I hate to be the English teacher here, but there are about 100 members on here that think "breaks" mean "brakes".

Brakes are what are on your car, not "breaks". That refers to taking a break, as in taking a quick breather etc.

I don't get the point... so you let some car go ahead.... it doesn't even realize there's any type of 'race' going on since you didn't race to begin with... and then you accelerate and pass him, probably scaring the bajeesus out of the other driver. :shifty Great job... really... here's a cookie :rolleyes

While some drivers can be idiots and think you're trying to race them simply by your having a loud exhaust or having fun with your engine, you gotta be careful man.

On Halloween I nearly got side swiped by (obviously) a drunk driver in a pos pickup truck. He had been driving poorly for a while, then after a turn onto a new street, with me following not even closely behind him, he decided to try and make me rear end him by performing multiple stuttered extreme brake checks.

..like you can out perform a BMW's brakes..

Anyway, after realizing this nut was clearly drunk off his butt cheeks and giving him a couple full 3 second honks, I down shifted and floored it into the turning lane to get away from him, before he got out and shot at me or god knows what. While I was passing him he did what I fully expected, he swerved at me trying desperately to cause damage to my car...for whatever reason. Donno how much he was drinking but it must have been quite a bit. So, fully prepared, I cut into the opposing lane momentarily and finished passing him before oncoming traffic got too close for comfort.

Point is.. People do NOT like being passed, period. Just watch your 3 or 9, whatever side you're passing on. People can get very very over righteous and become sew (sp?) happy. It's not worth the wrecked side of your bimmer.

Everyone knows we have nice cars, and they're more than likely jealous when they see you in that mirror/window. Always gotta drive defensively. :shifty
