Does anyone know if an Alpine 6-disc CD cnanger from a 98 e36 M3 will fit on a 01 X5 (stock in-dash single disc player, no nav, no changer)?

it should, tat year M3's had I-bus networking already, the number on the changer should be 82110028760.
