Does anyone know which E21s came with a steering damper? I need to order new tie rods for my 1978 316 and because I am in the U.S. right now and my car is in Greece I don't know if my car has them or not and unfortunately that makes a difference when ordering tie rods. Thanks in advance for the help.

i know they were on US-production 77 320i's (and some 78's, depending when the car was born).......not sure about euro e21's.

Mine has it.

Considering the later cars don't have one and my early '78 probably does, can I get rid of it without any ill effects? My car has manual steering and I doubt a damper would do much anyway for such a car, and I'm trying to remove any unwanted parts to make it easier to work on in the future and lighter for track use.
