hello guys,

i just purchased a header from TOP END PERFORMANCE. the headers are awesome..but, the mechanical who installed it encountered a minor problem...there's a leak!! the screws are really tight and they cannot screw it further becuase it might break..
has anyone here encountered this problem? is there a solution? i was thinking of putting a thicker gasket??

If there is actually a leak in the header than you should talk to topend about getting your money back or a new set of headers. thats a bummer. good luck.

Go ghetto and just stack up some washers behind the copper lock nuts. Problem solved, or is it? Whatever works

are you saying that the header flange isn't flush & snug up against the head? or is the leak coming from the header (somewhere after the flange)?

if it's the 1st, a thicker gasket might work.....tho it's just a fix for what could be a flange that was not aligned or drilled properly. or it could be installed wrong?

jbob,

the header flange isn't flush witht the engine.

i will try a thicker gasket..i will go back to the shop this weekend..

thanks for your advise.

Why even bother with that? Send it back to TEP, its obvious its a manufacture defect, don't try and fix there mistakes...

If you can't return it to TEP you can use a hacksaw to cut the flange between the ports to make it individual flanges for each port. I use individual flanges for each port when I fabricate headers, allows a little flex and seals better without stressing the studs.
