Friday night, me and my friend meet up with other people to hang out. As we head towards my friends house, a red Corvette comes flying by revving his engine at me. From the sounds of it, I knew he wasn't stock. but what the heck, what do i have to lose against a modded Vette and my BONE STOCK m3(don't get me wrong, i love my car, but you know when someone's car is faster than you). we get at a light that just turned red and pull down my window. i complement him on his car and he in return says "That's a German car. I hate BMWs and all imports. Ive ran into alot of BMWs and none has asked to raced more than once.Its no match for this American bad boy." Exact words. Can't forget those words.. :nono ..

To make a long story short, the light turns green and we go at it. after i hit 2nd he is about 1 c/l on me and he just starts to walk on me by 3rd and 4th gear. im not surprise at the outcome, but what i am surprise at is the owner saying those things.Oh well, i guess you run into those type of owners once in awhile. i respect those Vettes, but with owners like that, makes me start to think of them as SOB.

Noble death tho. 3.2L I-6 cant really compare with a 5.7L V8. Theres a corvette driver in my town (pretty small town in VT) that drives a yellow C5, he allways waves and gives me the thumbs up.

yeh i know not too worry about it too nuch.but hey i had nothing to lose, so why not put up a good fight. also, i nor any of my friends weren't looking for any runs that night. the cops are getting strict in this mid-size town. but hey, he initiated the run by revving and i went along with it, but i guess most of you would done the same thing.

Yea, a true enthusiast respects other cars. I guess thats why it was so hard for me to decide on a car. I understand that every car has its ups and downs. You just need to find the one thats right for you.

ive had this one guy on a red mustang GT with a spoiler size of park bench. so i was just waiting at the lights and then he stops next to me, calls me a "rich ass" and revs... :confused and then he took off as soon as the light turned green... oooooooook.....

but the worst part is when you can't do anything about it.. like if the guy was in Corolla did that to me, i would be like bitch and kill him. but when it comes to Vettes.. there's nothing much you can do about it.. unless u own an M... can't wait for the new m3...

Sorry but it's true. I love Corvettes, few of my friends own them including a 1965 Stingray all original including the windshield washer fluid, ZR1, Z06, and a few Barbie Corvettes. I have seen one get into an accident where a Hyundai would survive, there was nothing left of the Corvette. So my statment stands.

Most of the Corvette owners I have had a chance to talk to have been very cool and respectful. Yes, there are some asshats, but the same could be said for BMW owners.

Some buy because they are enthusiasts, others buy because of the status. Sounds like you had a run in with the latter.

If youre buying a car based on crash worthiness, get a Volvo. Most Corvette accidents look much worse than they are simply because the fiberglass panels shatter on impact. A couple replacement panels and youre good to go, probably a lot cheaper than the $5500 deer hit on my old M3. :cool

Raced a C5 Corvette with my 240 pound friend in the car. I was on pump gas, 16psi. 2 dudes in the other car as well. They caught me racing a WRX STi and I suppose wanted a piece as well.

about 50-130mph--walked him down with at least 5-7 car lengths although it could be more. We ran 3 times and each time same results.

my godfather drives a c4 right now and had a 88 vert before that. he lets me drive his vette and its pretty sweet. he is also a large bmw enthusiest. he would bring over bimmer mags for me and he recently just bought his wife a 528i sport package 5 spd. hes a cool vette owner

After I bought my car a week later I raced 4 people. I smoked a vw gti on the highway with me and 3 other people in the car and all of us weighed 165 and one was 225. It's anoying seeing people speedin around town thinkin their car is wicked cool. Well if your car is wicked cool then why dont you drive the speed limit so people can admire it. I only drive fast when I have to. I'm not a snob and dont go around struttin my stuff thinkin I'm king.

See thats what I should be doing. Just drive the speed limit. I speed all the time because unlike all you Z06, TT Supra, and modded 318 with M3 motor and S/C or turbo guys I am very very very very slow. So I guess I always feel I have to speed amazingly to get a rise. Well this is the best piece of advice I've ever heard.

I am totally passive.. I drive with traffic.. sometimes faster.. Every so often I get someone that slows down next to me and they take off, just to slow down again to see If I will "run them"... I keep the speed I am going and usually move over to the far right lane and become more passive..

If they press the issue, I acknowledge that they are there by doing a mini 2 second 5th gear pull to get some boost, then let off and let the BOV purge. If it is a Ricer, 9 times out of 10 they will back down right then, or they tear off to show off.

Having a Passat gives me allot of anonymity because it isn’t a Jetta, many have no idea what is under the hood, or that my car actually came with a turbo stock.

I like to keep the high speed on the Track!!

i thought an fi'd 6 will even things out with a v8? putting a blower on your v8 will only make things worse for a 6cyl car FI'd or N/A (assuming that they were stock)......the power curves on a turbo cars are different from n/a cars especially the ones with big turbos.........but ones they're heavily modfied, it's a money game. whoever makes more money usally winslike i've said before i have seen a twin turbo viper getting pulled on by a supra.......

I'm by no means putting words in your mouth, but when you say, "..beaten several Z06's on pump gas", I was implying that you're saying that like Z06's aren't much competition for you yet they put down the same amount of power as you and weigh substantially less(while you're on pump gas)... now granted, maybe the guys you raced were complete morons when it comes to shifting etc., but what you state is misinformation to the new guys lurking around.

I have nothing to prove to you either, but coming on here and saying you beat a Z06 with "just" 370rwhp is complete BS.

Since it seems like it takes time for you to understand what I'm saying, I'll spell it out for you:

Z06 = 350-360rwhp STOCK, curb weight 3135.

My effort to lighten the mood... At the drag strip sunday there was a supra that ran 8.6 @161.xx mph and after he ran one of his buddies was standing in the grandstand and said to another buddy that "he needs to turn it up to high boost"

The guy in the vette did have a bad attitude. But those cars are pretty fast. With very few mods they are running in the 11s. I can't even imagine a turbo or supercharged one. My friend is getting one in a few weeks and I have convinced him to put a supercharger on it :eek: I wish I could have all the torque that thing is going to make. Most of the vette guys I race are cool.

I have a story that "might" put things in perspective:

A couple of years ago, a guy in the track had a Sean Hyland cobra, something around 500rwhp. He never finished the 1/4 mile coz he couldnt drive it and hit the wall. Pretty sad.

LOL some of these vette guys are funny.

I was driving in my G couple of months ago and this guy in a Vette pulls along side and revs. I look over and he does not look at me but his GF keeps staring at my car. When we stop at the red he rolls his window down and says to me " Thats a nice car but it cant touch the vette" I was like WTF, because I didnt even say anything to him or aknowledge him. Well there are always the bad ones along with the good. So brush the haters comments off.


he was jealous b/c his girl probably just said something like "ooooh, what's that car? I like it."
