I took a 220 mile trip last weekend out west and I was cruising the whole way non stop at 80 mph on I-90. About half way to Butte (where I was going), I saw an STi heading back east. I thought that would be a fun car to run against. About 50 miles later down the road I looked in my mirror to see another one coming up from behind. He must have been doing 85 or 90, so I downshifted and gassed it so he wouldn't pass me. We both slowed down to about 80 and gunned it. It was as if I was standing still. He shot ahead. I didn't stand a chance. I realize now the power of the STi.

LOL... didn't really want to say anything on that :devillook I got a chance to drive an STI a month or so ago.... sweet car but I almost pushed the clutch pedal through the floor (super soft), steering can be done with pinky and the hood scoop :mad ....

It's actually pretty light. You can safely go 5 mph over the posted speed limit on the highways and you can go 10 over to pass someone. If you're caught speeding something like 30 over in Montana, it's only a $20 fine. Police are pretty laid back in Billings. Unless you're really booking it down the street, you won't get stopped. It's pretty regular to see people cruising at 10 over the speed limit.

Personally, I think Yellowstone is a lot better.

Compared to an STi especially.. those things are over 300chp STOCK, and bone-light to boot compared to most BMW's... they don't even come with a radio! Not THE quintessential luxury car to say the least...;)

No, you have to either order one to be installed at the dealership, or you have to get one aftermarket. They are an option, not a standard feature. I know two people with STi's and I've ridden in both - both of which made a trip to CarToys within a week of buying their car due to LACK OF STEREO.

I take that back.. the first model year they came out they did not have a stereo (the two people I know that have one were on the waiting list and pre-paid for their car).. .they since have started being made with stereos..

STi going against an 325? STI should be going against M. An E36 M3 doesnt stand a chance from a stop.

Not worth mentioning but I had to bury an almost stck WRX on Westside hwy in NYC last Fri with my 332i. :D He instigated the whole thing.I even took him out the hole from the light,perhaps because he could'nt drive.Like I said,not really worth mentioning because he seemd like he had only mild upgrades not even an exhaust.Perhaps just intake and BOV and lowered with aftermarket rims. But hell yea those Sti's are fast ,even a nicely modded WRX can be fast. The EVO rules them all though.

STis are no joke...I raced a slightly modded STi (cat back exhaust) with my e46 M3 twice in a 1/8 mile run at a local airport runway...First race - I was still standing still at the start and he was already at least one car ahead...didn't stand a chance the rest of the way... Second race - I got a pretty good launch and we were side by side the whole way and nipped him at the line...the M3 is a little faster from a roll but the Sti can launch so well because of 4wd.

I also had the chance to race a Lincoln Mark VII that had a 2004 Cobra engine swap with a Kenny Bell blower...not pretty. I knew I was going to get destroyed but was curious to see how bad it would be. He was already in another zip code before I even got off the line...I have since found out that he has run as low as 9.3 in the 1/4 on drag radials...

There's a guy on vetteforum.com that has a blower on his 01 and he runs 10.6's@139mph.

I wouldn't go FI with this motor, though, personally...it's built way too nice NA.

It is always a good idea to race the fastest subaru made agianst the the slowest e30 325 I made....at least 16 years ago :confused
