Alright... I haven't done an update to my website in forever... so keeping with tradition I'll just post something here instead.

Alright onto the rods. I'm sure you have all heard the story... I used 3 different grit sand paper rolls, 2 different scotch brite discs, 3 hand sanding grits, and 3 polishing compounds... here are the different stages:
Stock (untouched):

Roughed in with the sand paper rolls, making sure you only sand in the direction of the rod:

After the two scotch brites. It looks a little polished here, but there are still deep gouges in it:

I think this is after a few hand sanding grits... still needs more sanding though:

And The END Product... drum roll please:

Alright now the engine hardware and headgasket:

Raceware.... aerospace grade fasteners. If it can go into space than I guess it's ok to go on my car.

Head studs and main bearing studs:

But where oh where are the pistons? Your guess is as good as mine.
And I'm spent.

Don, my machinest, took one look at them. Looked at me and said "This ain't Jewelry class man, jeez".

I guess I was a victim of my own stupidity. I seriously didn't know how far to go with the polishing. To me when someone says "polish them" that means like Moen faucet polished. I guess car guys have a different definition of polished. Don says he's never seen anything like that before and says they will be more than good for what I'm using them for.

Price for your rods to get polished, is 120 a piece :) Explaining why you need it on a hi-po motor is free.

Not a problem Joe... Notice the price increase :) A tad more work than I anticipated the first time. :lol

Did you all notice the thread protectant that Raceware put on every other stud. Very high quality stuff... they were worried about the two studs rubbing against each other in a vacuum sealed package. I serioulsy love those guys, super customer service (when you can get through to someone) and second to none product.

I was wondering what that was about.....

Nice work. Gives me ideas of what to do with the stuff I'll have sitting in my garage in a few months.....
