Hey fellas,

Yea, some jerko hit the bimmer while it was parked at my house :(

The car is almost mint and really would prefer to take it a bodyshop that could return it to its former glory. Can anyone recommend any body shops in the NYC metro (preferrably Westchester county)?

Thanks in advance,
George

Ask for John and tell him Tom Chang sent you.

Flushing eh? Not too bad, I could just hop the LIRR to get to work in NYC.

Well the insurance adjuster just left. He quoted $1940 for the repair (new Front bumper, new fender, sidemarkers, and a little bodywork to the grill trim (a small dent)

One problem though, I have Euros and when the guy smacked the sidemarker, he broke one of the tabs that connect it to the headlight. Now the marker rattles in the housing. I want it replaced, but don't have a receipt for it :( He offered to replace ONE headlight with the stock spec! WTF!!! Grrrr.... bad week to quit smoking. Arguing with his boss right now (looks like Im gonna get new EUROs :) )

Bah! just a heads up to all you here, I went to North State Customs for a price quote on my new bumper & fender. These guys have a rep of doing top notch work, mostly bimmer and Benz in the place.

They quoted $4K (thats not a typo) to install and spray a new front bumper, new fender and blend the paint :rolleyes

Gotta be honest, the last BMW autorized facility quoted me.....

$693 parts (reasonable)
27.1 hours body labor :help
20 hours paint labor :rolleyes
+ $700 for paint (and frame labor)

Total: $4151.00
All this for a new front bumper, fender and paint feathering.

I almost threw up on the guy :confused

I took it 3 reputable non-BMW autorized places and was quoted between $1400 & $1800.

Im thinking of doing most of it myself
I've found the stock bumper with no blemishes and same paint color for $125. So Im thinking of order the fender myself $160 slapping it all on (figure 5 hours for amatuer labor) and then paying someone four or five clams to spray the fender and blend into the door.

If you do any other custom work to Bimmers, let me know and I will swing by.... Maybe a fender roll, but I need a shop that do custom software when I slap on the M50 mani and cams this spring.

Hey thanks for the thread :)

Its always hard to tell from the pic, but from what I read the work is really top notch. I wish I could bring it down and give it that treatment.

The insurance co. informed me yesterday that they will not be replacing my Euro lights. They are gonna give me $350 for new stock spec ones instead. (long long story here.)

I did a bit of bodywork back in highschool, so to save a few bucks on labor so I can upgrade to ZKWs, Im gonna mount the new bumper and fender myself then just have someone spray it.

Thanks for the help, next time Im out that way I'll swing by.
