I have a non-sport package X5 4.4i with the stainless colored window trim around the windows. With the Sport package BMw uses a dark(black) trim and I wanted to know if anyone has tried the conversion before? Is it expensive or even feasible? I just cant stand the stainless trim on a tinted Topaz X5. Not to mention I am thinking about getting some new wheels, possibly the 4.6is body kit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I just purchased a Topaz Blue X5 4.4 without the sport package. I had serious doubts about the look of the stainless trim until I changed the wheels. Now the difference due to the new wheels really pulls the bright trim out and makes it look great.

Let me know if you would like to see a picture of my X5. I can certainly emial a picture.

Pulling the trim off looks like it would be a major pain. Not to mention that you are working around all of the painted body panels, which means that one slip or scratch and you are painting your X5's body panel with a metalic paint that looks really hard to match.

:alright

My roommate bought a 4.4i w/o the sport package. From day one he wanted the black trim (he also tinted his front windows). Two weeks after he bought his car some lady hit his car in a parking lot. When in for repairs he had the trim replaced. He paid a very high end body shop on the side about $1,000 cash to swap the pieces. It is NOT a simple bolt-on procedure. For pics, I am sure you could find someone w/ a Sport Package and 18's from a non-sport.
