Hi,
I am stationed overseas, getting ready to buy an X-3, and would like to hear from you about preferences regarding leather vs. the fake stuff. I can't compare the two here other than the samples, and want to know if it would be worth the additional $1450.00 for leather. I plan on keeping the car for the long term. Thanks!

Hello!

We have the X3 with the leather package. We looked at the other stuff and it's not typical of that in other BMW's. It was not attractive for one because it was part fake leather and part, well I don't really know what the other part is. Basically what I'm trying to say is the whole seat isn't made from the leatherette.

Do a search in this forum, I believe someone else got the leatherette in the X3 and promptly had their child spill something on it! I want to say he was wishing he would've gotten the leather...but I don't really remember!

Tell us more about what you're going to get on the X3! And colors, pics too if you have them!

Thanks! We are looking at the red, auto, moonroof, and I think we will be adding leather now. We have a quote of $34,550 for the 2.5 liter including the privacy glass and maple wood trim from BMW military sales here, plan to put the order in on the 20th, and pick it up in San Diego. What a great car!

You have to be sure to post pics when you get it. Haven't seen one in the red yet but I'm sure it's gorgeous!

We also bought ours military sales, $37,465 for the 2.5L manual. We got:
Sport package
Cold weather package
Premium Package
aluminum finish trim
premium sound
park distance control (comes in handy here in Germany)
and privacy glass

It's mystic blue with grey leather; looks just like the one one the bmwusa website. We are incredibly happy with it and there is not one option I would give back. I drove my husbands 325i the other day which has nothing compared to the X3 as far as options and I realized how spoiled I am! From the auto dimming rearview mirror, rain sensor to the park distance control I am hooked. It is such a wonderful ride and going on road trips will most certainly be a pleasure!

Can't wait to see it!
