I'm looking for potential Moderators for this forum! I would prefer to have members who are currently already Moderators.

I'd be honored, if you need me...

And I'd highly recommend ///M Roadster/Phillip... :)

Maybe one of the turbo guys too?

I'd like to have Moderators who currently have "charged" engines...and who own different BMW model cars, i.e. Roadster, M3, etc.

If you already own a "charged" BMW, please advise.

I can help if you need an (currently) unbiased party... and I'll be in here a lot as I get closer to D-Day for my blower...

also, lets get someone with a turbo in a non-Z3 too to balance it out. (JP?)

Bob ///M3

Jim, I've already added you as a Moderator on this forum. I also removed you from the "Buy-Sale-Trade" forum.

Thanks for helping out!

I guess nickG and I are too hardcore to moderate this forum..no bother, we both hate all the FI companies that are out anyway (just ask me about RMS); it would have been a mess.

Bob,

I'm not knocking your Moderator choices or anything, so don't get the wrong idea. I'm just curious as to what you expect a Moderator on this board to do, and what qualifications you require of them?

Thanks,

Bob ///M3

There are a number of things I look for in Moderators...some of which are more important than others. They need to be helpful to the other members and the community in general, have a good attitude, display respect toward other members, make good decisions, convey messages in an understandable and proper manner, participate on the message board on a regular basis, have knowledge of the forum they are moderating (if appropriate), the number of total posts, the number of threads they originated, their length of time as a member, whether they are accepted and respected by other members, etc., etc.

Nick, I didn't see that you owned a forced induction BMW. Do you? Also, I'm curious where you received the experience in tuning /programming forced induction engines.

Also, I see that you are only averaging less than one post every two days (0.48 posts per day). Maybe that rate will pick up with this new forum that interests you...

Is Nick employed by an aftermarket company offering turbos or superchargers? I don't want a conflict of interest where a Moderator works for an aftermarket company...

I've owned a 1995 M3 for the past 4 years. 2 years ago I installed an AA turbo on it, and proceeded to custom tune the DME myself using the DME Editor. In the process, I learned a lot of how the DME operates, and added functionality to the code for forced induction application, such as:

a) spark retard vs. intake air temp
b) WOT air/fuel ratio vs gear ratio (yes folks, my DME can detect what gear the tranny is in :) )
c) larger spark and fuel maps to handle the increased operating range of the turbo engine

And all this with full lambda control and adaptation enabled.

Also, as psk145's sig now shows, I've tuned his SC 3.2L engine (and it does run well if I do say so myself :) ).

I removed the turbo reference in my sig because I just bought a 540i and will be selling the turbo kit and the M3. You can search your database for past posts I've made regarding how the DME operates and the like.

Okay Nick! You come highly recommended to say the least! I saw that your M3 was for sale and you don't average many posts so I didn't consider you when I was making my list.

I want to add you as a Moderator for this forum and hope you will contribute some of your knowledge and be a regular participant.

I actually have too many moderators for this forum already but I do want to add you. I'll make a judgement call at a later time to see if everyone I currently have is participating enough and make any necessary changes.

I'll send you a Private Message shortly.

Yeah, well, I usually only post when I see misinformation given, or if I know the answer. I don't make 'me too' posts just to make a post. Plus, if I see that somebody else has already responded to somebody's question with the correct answer, then I won't respond and waste server space and bandwidth (I see that as a 'me too' post). You'll have to interpret that however you see fit.

Excellent coerced choice Bob. Nick has helped my azz out several times during my turbo install.

It's actually quite an honor to have him step up to the plate with this forum. :buttrock
