View Full Version : Beautiful old school BMW
IslandS62 11-08-2004, 11:03 PM Check out this lovely lady who found her way into my email box this afternoon. I extended an invitation to bimmerforums and tech session to the lucky owner, so hopefully we'll be able to gawk at her "in the flesh" and have a new member join our ranks.
Remember, if she's "available" I saw her first. :devillook
Alpine3.23 11-08-2004, 11:04 PM

RDR-EURO 11-08-2004, 11:36 PM Thats a beauty! Looks like it even has Recaro seats inside also. ;)
2800cs 11-09-2004, 12:10 AM Hello all,
Thanks for the complements on the car. I would love to bring it down to show you guys, but its not reg'd or insured right now.
If I can make it down I may just show up!
I planned to take my time and do this car as my long term project, but some time has passed and all I do is periodically clean and start the car. Im concerned about the car sitting and rotting away....
Ive got to stop sinking money into the.....sorry....."other" car
If I dont start working on it by next spring Ill be sure to let you guys know what Im going to do with it.....If I cant Im sure one of you guys could give it the tlc it deserves.
Thanks!!
B
The Beastmaster 11-09-2004, 12:24 AM Is that the 2800cs that was in Kona?

Don't worry, I'll take care of it for you! I'll make sure it stays fresh and clean!

You have too many cars already, so I'll take this one and save you some money. At the rate you're going, the DMV will start an investigation on why there are so many cars registered to you in one year.....you know, drug trading and stuff :cool
This is for your protection!
I'm Thrlls, and I approve of this message!
IslandS62 11-09-2004, 04:42 AM It has crossed my mind about how many cars I "flip" in a year. I might need to get a dealer lisence soon. :shifty Besides I don't have too many, I have one more spot on the driveway and one more in front of my mailbox. :redspot
Speaking of too many cars, did you find out anything about that Lexus RX300?
Waxfondlr 11-09-2004, 04:50 AM if hes as classy as the car i can sense you pulled a good member

I left you a VM on your work phone. I talked with the asst. sales manager, and was told that's the lowest they will go 19,995. I guess it's a supply/demand thing. He said it has 56k miles.
Waxfondlr 11-09-2004, 01:32 PM a homie showed me this old school euro funk last night..now i want one extremely bad..i think this thing is hot as hell
e30devo 11-09-2004, 05:21 PM thats pimp
The Beastmaster 11-09-2004, 05:35 PM thats pimp
Mos def! However, I would hold out for a 280sel 6.3! One of my mechanic buddies has a client with a pristine one with very low miles.
IslandS62 11-09-2004, 06:00 PM So with gas at $2.50 a gallon what would a fill-up cost on that?! Plus you'd have to add lead substitute at each fill right? Do people still do that? I needed to put that in my 240Z all the time. It was $$$.
Waxfondlr 11-09-2004, 06:03 PM i was personaly thinking more along the lines of the body and chasis with a swapped engine and tranny..dunno any specs on that whatsoever but i dig it alot..sorry to detract from your friends car tho..the old school beamer is hot as haaail
Waxfondlr 11-09-2004, 06:04 PM are those replica alpina wheels or something? they look good on it,,hahah i didnt even realize this was hawaii forum..you lucky bastids! :stickoutt
The Beastmaster 11-09-2004, 06:05 PM I dunno what a fillup would cost, but mileage shouldn't be much different than my 750il. It should get better mileage than my Jeep Grand Wagoneer as that only gave me 8 mpg. However, that 6.3 is sooo sweet! I saw a beautiful 6.9 over the weekend in Hawaii Kai, too!
IslandS62 11-09-2004, 06:08 PM Those are real Alpinas.
I think my 240 was getting about 12-13mpg. Thirsty! I remember not being able to afford filling that thing up all the time, so I used to drive Anna's Civic with the AC...memories :D

Speaking of memories...in 1969 I drove my 390 cubic inch V8 equipped Ford Fairlane GT from California to New Jersey, averaging 12 mpg...it only cost me $90... :stickoutt

Bringing those memories into perspective....in 1969 a high percentage of the people on this forum wasn't even walking on the earth yet, and another percentage was just starting to walk!
Damn...that's memories for ya! :D

That means the bunch of old farts here are in the minority and I'm not one of them! I wasn't even in school in 1969.

Hi Gene.. for the benefit of the youngsters here :-) .. in 1969 gas (price) wars were not unusual and even normal pricing for regular grade was 32 cents in the midwest.
But ya have to consider I was making $1.62 an hour at the time and driving a 1961 Sunbeam Alpine. :eyecrazy
IslandS62 11-10-2004, 02:44 PM I've read about 1969 in my history books. :rofl
