skratch 11-08-2004, 01:29 PM Its the weekend and we were all getting ready to hit the strip club up,Im happy cuz I finally don't have to drive(cousin was going to)So my friend calls and shows up in his s4 with my cuz.:buttrock Then hes like I wana hear your car now.I just put on aa track pipe.Long story short we both drive and I pick up another friend and were off.
On the highway the cells start going off like here we go he wants to go .I told him lets go from 55 and hes like no way I need my turbos spolled.Im like are you kidding im all NA.We ended up going from 70 just to make him happy.
All he has is an exhuast.
so we hit it from 70 and I pull a car on him then slam 4th and another 3 cars till the end of 4th.He call and says I jumped him so we go again.This time I really rev the shit out of my car and pulled about 5 cars till 125 then I shut down.
Cell again im like now what.He goes holly shit man you just shot out a 4 foot flame :alright I told him lets go again from 55 this time and still no go.
we talked in the club and I asked him why he dosnt chip the car and he said he dosnt want any waranty problems with it.
It was a good time in the club and we did a final race on the way home from 40mph he took me by 3 cars but thats because he was in second and I was in third.I still beat him by 100

awesome kill, chipped s4's are killer though. my friend has an s4 and before he chipped it (300hp, 13.5 @ 99 after chip, be4 chip i think he ran a 14.5) we raced one nite. he took me in about all races except from like 55-115 where i got a nice carlegth on him :D . gotta love the higher speeds in the bimmer. im getting hit with the turbo bug though(possible mr2t)

I ran a 14.3 at 96 but with only chip intake an exhaust.That was with major 1st gear spin.
The rpms with the 3.38 are fine you wont need a 6spd with them.If you go with the 6spd get 3.91

lol bro im not lieing 3 of my friends have s4s and the same happened to another kid when we went.
But once they chip there cars it will be the other way no doubt.its my rear end and ltw flyweel that really helps me out

thats nothing amazing imo?...i know u might have gears but s4s are quick...everywhere...maybe he also doesn't wanna void the warrenty by driving past 5k rpms...
nycray540i 11-08-2004, 08:21 PM my friend had a 2002 s4 avant wagon? and with a chip and exhaust he would destroy my 540 from stop or a roll. he also put a dude in a e46 m3 dow 3 times on the hwy when i was following him.
he traded it for an m3 though , he liked the handling better.

I ran that time with only intake chip and exhuast.I now have a bigger manifold larger hfm track pipe pullies flywheel plasma coils and a 3.38 rear end.The car is way faster now than when I ran it.When I went I stalled it twice waiting in line at the track.It was my 3rd day driving a stick and wasnt used to the car at all and still got a decent time.
my friend redlined the shit out of his s4 and he let it cool down for 10 min before he went in the club.
Do we need to get our kills on video for people to beleive a maxed out na m3 beat a stock s4 jeez let me enjoy my kill till he chips the damn thing.

IMO S4's are no slouch at top end.. They have plenty available torque throughout the entire rev range, and they have a lower CO of drag (.30) then a E36 (.32 coupe) or E46 M3 (.32). While they do have plenty of driveline loss, it isn't as much as people think, or make it out to be.

Im putting down about 235-240 whp from what others with close mods are putting down.

With a full tank of gas and a driver, S4s are around 3800lbs. whp, stock, is around 200. I don't often see a stock s4 chart :D

I didn't think they were that heavy,figured about 3,400 tops.How much whp do the chiped s4s have.Does the apr and giac chip put down the same numbers.

If I could only go back in time.The amount of money I put in this car to net these gains is not worth it,I should of just put down the 6grand when rms was having the stage 2 supercharger for sale and would of had 411 hp.
Tell your friend to go hit the junk yard and get a used m50 manifold and an used 540 hfm(from a 95)Or he can just get the kit thats about $575 from m3 motorwerks and the hfm will cost him from $150-300 depending on where you find it.
pullies from uuc were like $180
uuc flyweel was $580
I did a conforti/custom mickey mouse job on my intake,put on a bigger k&n filter and adapted the 3.5 hfm to be used. I wana say about $400
shark injector $350
plasma coils wich I feel helps out were $450 on ebay(if you can find them still the go for $800 at bavauto)
aa exhuast $700
aa track pipe sim$718
traction control delete boot $20
ngk plugs were $70
3.38 dif could be found for about $500
I also have h&r coil overs,aa front and rear strut bars,turner front and rear sway bars,bmw xbrace,uuc tranny mounts uuc rear shock mounts,turner rtab bushings,dinan short shift kit.
thats pretty much all the mods from the top of my head.Next up cams and still waiting for either the twinscrew supercharger or tt stage 2 turbo(I was gona do a custom kit but its just to much hassel)

Your friend needs to learn the proper shift points if he wants to drive his S4 to its potential. Really the only gear that should see a redline is first. On the highway taking third gear to redline would definatly be a mistake. If he drove every gear into redline at the 1/4 mile track he would probably see very little of forth if any at all. Don't get me wrong though, your car with the mods listed should take him on a highway pull but I think he could have done better.

The big advantage against the s4s turbos is the massive low end tourqe of the m3 has.
The same thing happened with my other friends s4 and hes prolly a better shifter than I am.
My brother has a 2.8 and wants to sell for an s4.Im not even going to post what happenes when we go at it cuz hes my brother lol but it's like hes not even trying.
im also looking into getting an s4,now that there prices are coming down.
