M3Jokster 11-13-2004, 05:06 PM ttt....anyone else coming?
Estoril4dr 11-19-2004, 01:21 AM I may be down to go. Anyone know if they will make me take a class if its my first time going. Also, how much actual track time will we be getting. Is there a reason why this event is $60 cheaper than this one: http://www.touringcarclub.com/events/events_next.shtml
A couple of my friends are going to the TCRA event on dec4, but would rather goto the one with speedtrials cuz it costs less. I was also told that I may get more actual track time with TCRA so it may be worth the extra money? But i know TCRA requires that you take an instruction class if its your first time = $75 extra
dorikin_86 11-19-2004, 12:02 PM damn....speedtrial is full i think =(
speedtrial usually has a huge group of cars...maybe 100 at streets of willow with 25 cars per group(quite a bit for a track that size...i complain when there aer 20 cars)
never been with TCRA but i'm not sure if they run an event with that many cars...and TCRA is more of a drivign school then just a track event?
Estoril4dr 11-19-2004, 04:21 PM on the website it doesnt show it as full. This will be my first time going and didnt notice the 25 max per group on their website. That is indeed alot of cars on the track at once. Which group do u usually go with and how many cars per group usually are allowed. Speedventures.net also seem to have great prices! I'm just wondering why TCRA charges so much more, and if its worth the extra cost. Guess if my friends end up going to the TCRA one, ill fork out the extra money. In the end the fun is with driving with your friends and talking shit to each other.
dorikin_86 11-19-2004, 08:19 PM when i organise my own..i do 15 cars/group and 3 total groups on streets of willow...but most other groups (speedventures, redline) do 20 cars/group and 4 groups
just remember...more traffic = more ego collisions = more headaches =)
I've never ran with TCRA...but they require a membership and I got a problem with commitment so there u go =)
Estoril4dr 11-19-2004, 08:33 PM no membership for first timers with TCRA. Are there going to be any other events going on in dec besides the speedtrialusa event on dec 11. 25 seems alot of cars per group. Me and my friends want to go to a track day in dec but safety is of bigger concern that $$. 15/group seems great compared to 25.
CrayzeeM3 11-24-2004, 01:44 AM hey hung ill see you there on the 12th. Any progress on the reducer?
dorikin_86 11-24-2004, 02:11 AM check www.speedventures.net

Estoril4dr 11-24-2004, 03:07 AM hey dorkin, when do you guys plan on having your next track event? Plans for willow big track anytime soon. I have never gone yet, but from reading posts on the forums about speedtrialusa is making me weary. Many people have complained that they would never attend speedtrialusa events ever again because it is unsafe and poorly run. Being that I have never been to an event before, I dont want a bunch of ricer newbies crashing into my car! Seems like speedventures runs some safe and organized events judging from peoples past experiences.

dorikin_86 11-24-2004, 12:27 PM from my experience.....i would only go to speedventures + redline....now i ahven't been to a redline event for awhile but speedventures has always been good to me....it's still hard to get some good clean laps with them but they're not as bad as the other clubs
I am waiting for willow springs to give me 'my' schedule for next year so i know which days i have the track for....
speedtrial isn't poorly ran...they just have tooooo many cars and tooooo many groups...when u get a bunch of guys driving at the same time..it's hard not to get a few ppl's ego to clash
Estoril4dr 11-24-2004, 12:47 PM Thanks, signed up with speedventures for dec5.
BTW.. can you add me to your mailinglist... dlai531@hotmail.com
Argh, I really wanna go. I have finals two days after this and shouldn't be going to play cars. :( I really wanted to go to the one with redline on the 17th. Anyone gonna go to that one?
dorikin_86 11-24-2004, 04:10 PM no problem =)
i need to fix my brakes before i go anywhere though....my bank accoutn is empty =(
Estoril4dr 11-24-2004, 04:16 PM Is SOW heavy breaking involved? Would I need to buy track pads for my first time? I'm running a brembo BBK with Hawk HPS. Also have no brake ducts because the damn fender liner came lose and the ducts flew off on the freeway! :mad
dorikin_86 11-24-2004, 09:15 PM if it's ur first even then u shoudl be fine =)
clumpymold 11-27-2004, 08:42 AM i just got one...it's pyrotect by bell ...

Wow, that's quite a bit. Any other options less than that? Maybe around $100? At least until I feel comfortable tracking so that I can invest in a nicer helmet later? :D
dorikin_86 11-27-2004, 02:45 PM i thought pyrotect has a open face one for 160?
slcook54 11-27-2004, 03:52 PM There are plenty of motorcycling helmets that are DOT and SNELL approved in the $100 range. Just google it.
Estoril4dr 11-27-2004, 05:55 PM Let me know if you find any deals curtis. I'm looking for a cheap helmet also.

Alright. But I've been VERY lazy as I'm using all the money I've saved on maintenance stuff (with minor upgrades). :D
I probably won't even look until next year. After this event. :(
CrayzeeM3 11-30-2004, 08:17 PM Try to search somewhere were you can just rent helmets.

Not sure if I want to rent a helmet though. I heard it gets pretty nasty sweaty inside. :( Nasty.
