I bought the entire set because it was cheaper than just buying the two that I needed. I then listed the remaining disks on eBay to sell to other BMW owners at a great price. Because I explained what I had done in the listing, I got a nasty letter from Navteq stating I had broken the contractual agreement when buying a set and my listings were pulled by eBay (this was a complete surprise to me).

Because I don't want to step on the wrong side of the law, rather than letting these disks sit here in my study and collect dust I would like to offer these in TRADE for any BMW goodies (add-ons, print, extras.. anything that is of roughly the same value as a CD).

Thanks for helping me get these CDs out to welcome BMW homes.

Navtech has no legal basis in keeping you from selling the remaining disks.

You OWN the disks because you bought them. What you do with them is your business, not theirs.

Tell them to go fly a kite.

in spite why not copy the cds for everyone :D 2 is what i need :D Because that is illegal, and I wouldn't broadcast such activity on a public board? :(

Hesten, I did the same thing as you, but sold the disks. (The whole set divided by eight, or about $25 each plus a few bucks shipping) and unloaded all the ones I didn't need to others from the board.

There was one I had to give away. I think it was Wisconsin? I finally just sent it to a guy I 'met' on these board who did European Delivery. He didn't have NAV, but since no one seemed to want it from that area, I sent it to him to hand out at their next CCA meeting.

You should be able to get rid of the extras for a fair price or trade. :)

NOT TRUE. You are buying the physical media and a LICENSE to use the software contained on the discs. Any software manufacturer has the right to put whatever license restrictions they want on their software. This can, and usually does include not making copies, not decompiling or reverse engineering the product, not selling previous version when you buy an upgrade version AND not selling or giving away any part of the software that is packaged together.

With that said, I am not trying to take any particular side. I am just stating the facts as they are.

Sorry guys, can't do the burning or selling of the CDs because of the obvious copywrite laws. However, for those of you who asked, here is further clarification on the map coverage per CD:

Map 3 - Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and parts of Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Map 4 - Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and parts of Tennessee and Texas.

Map 7 - Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and parts of North Carolina.

Map 8 - British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec.

Let me know if anyone wants to trade for them.

Betray, if you pick it up and it should be 04 I think maybe I can trade you for the 02 for a piece of U.S. paper or I might have some CDN paper laying around still. Wifey is from Van. B.C.
