I have an 1983 320is (pics here:carpictures.aowc.net). Can you just give me a step by step of how I can turbo my car to about 200-300. My dad is suppose to be getting a turbo kit from a 325, guy blew up his engine. But can you just give me a step by step thanks!

Before anything else get books on turbocharging and read. Reading may be one of those "hard" things to do, especially in this "I want it now and I want it fast" society, but the more you learn about what a turbocharged engine is supposed to do the less problems you will have putting your knowledge into practice. If you do not want to read then I am sure there are plenty of specialty shops willing to lighten your wallet in exchange for their knowledge. Not trying to be a smart ass but reading up on something you want to do will usually answer or eliminate many of the neophyte questions that attract so much attitude from others.
Since you had given a simplified question on how to turbo your car here is a simplified answer:
get car, get turbo parts, mount turbo parts on engine, try to start car, if car runs test and tune car, if car does not run check step number 3, after testing and tuning car raise boost, dyno car, if car puts out less than desired HP go to step 2 and get newer/better/larger/other turbo parts, or if engine blows up go to step 2 and start all over again. Simple.
Just my 2 psi worth.

There's a post half way down the E21 topic page that is discussing the same exact thing. Oh and there aren't any "step by step" instructions unless you buy a kit... which if you're buying something off a 325 will not be.
