I have a 540i with the cell phone option. Can I hook up a cell phone to it ot through the speakers or something?

I think you have to buy the bluetooth retrofit kit. Unless you can find a cell provider that can activate that phone in your car. If you have a phone that has bluetooth, than yes you will be able to hear the conversation through the speakers. I haven't done this option because if another girl calls me when I'm with my girlfriend and the phone call comes through the speakers, than I'm in big trouble. :eyecrazy

I have a corded car phone in my 97 540. Looked into it, and in the midwest, the only carrier that can hook it up is Verizon. I'm not sure if they are nationwide or not. They told me all I had to do was take the car to a Verizon full service center and they'll have it done in 15 minutes.

Verizon is nationwide.
