Which would you choose?

The oppurtunity of free racing slicks or any amount of weight reduction (within reason) to improve say... an autoX time.

Personally, I would take a set of tires over any amount of weight reduction (within reason) Your opinion?

If a mod could add a poll (forgot) that would be great.

I'd go with the stickier tires if you're just talking about losing 150-200lbs or so(about what is easy to take out of a car, past that and it gets harder).

Well, if the car was really lightweight like 2200lbs before weight reduction I might have to think about it because the percentage decrease in weight would be a huge amount.

If I remember right, you can cut up to a couple of seconds off of a 40-50 sec. run with really good tires. I'm not sure how much 200-300 lbs would make.

Depends what tires I had to start with.

But I believe for almost any tire, there is an amount of weight reduction that would get you going quicker than racing slicks..Might be 1000 pounds though.

What kinds of slicks, dotr's or full slicks? Are they new or scrubs?

If you can't get the tires hot enough, having a lighter better setup on some normal dotr's might be more beneficial. Depends on the slick,...

Better tires all the way! it doesnt matter how heavy the car is, I can AutoX and drift my 7 series.

Why is there a question of which one? Why not both? Tires cost more and weight reduction is usually free to a point. How much experience do you have? What class?

This is all just hypothetical... ///meric and I had a disagreement on what would be more beneficial at an autoX type setting.

I told him he could go strip his car out to all hell (when/if he gets one) to lose a few seconds and I would just mount some R compounds on my stock ride... lose a few seconds and drive home with a/c. :alright
