Auxiliary input worked in my 2003 X5, i'm not sure if it will work in your 2004 but you can try this (http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=196) part or call peripherals for information --727-572-9255 x230 They helped me locate a dealer and were able to confirm that it would work in my truck.
