Dej4y 10-24-2004, 08:48 PM as you know the V12 beasts have the chrome V12 signs on the quater panels (and some v8) but can any 1 produce chrome ///M7 badges of the same size to fit there ???
Cause that would be Sweet !!!!

Alpina B12 10-25-2004, 03:23 AM I second those ... debaging for understatement is nice but putting badges on
the car which do not fit is ... well ... not my style.
But if you insist just get yourself a M badge from your local dealer and add
the 7 from the normal badge and there you go to have at least original BMW
parts used ...

Alpina B12 10-25-2004, 09:21 AM I have no badges on my B12 ... I like it when others underestimate the car
and think they can play with me and then :confused when I pull away. :D
Alpina B12 10-25-2004, 09:40 AM As it fits the topic ... the ugliest and most scary 7 series I have seen is this
one ... take a 728i ... put on an aerodynamic (haha) kit by Seidl ... add AMG
front brakes ... Porsche rear brakes ... numerous Alpina, M and Benz parts ...

... and finally you have ...
http://www.picupload.net/files/20040609/1094466432.jpg
... an BMW Alpina i M7 - V8 Kompressor ... :eyecrazy
The best way to deal with this would be ...

... just my 2 cents.

That is the funniest-looking 7 I've ever seen! V8 Kompressor with M3 side vents on the front fenders. :eyecrazy and :lol and :embarrasm

The Shadowchaser 10-25-2004, 11:40 AM The only thing I would do even remotely replicating this car is the shark fin antenna, rear window spoiler, & maybe the wheels. I gotta see them from a better angle before I make up my mind. After all they are factory Alpina. The Seidl kits are the worst kits I have ever seen. Dominik, question on the brakes. Is there any performance advantage to going to the brakes you described (AMG fronts and Porsche rears)? If you took away the identification on them maybe it could be a feasible brake upgrade? Your comments are appreciated.

I hear ya. I was just trying to figure out if there was anyway of sourcing multi piston calipers for a more "cost effective" solution. :confused The 750 brakes are not 4 piston, & I was hoping for something like that without dropping several grand on the brakes. Oh and yes, I can be cheap some times ibew595, :rolleyes guess you got me. :(

silver50 10-25-2004, 12:35 PM I fancied a set of those wheels myself when I first saw them-I think they suit the E38 well :cool

Oh wait, this isn't the newb. Sorry
Dej4y 10-25-2004, 08:04 PM ok some of you go a wee bit analiretentive on this. M badges can be put on any sport model, M-tec, M3/M5/M6 are not the only cars eligable for these badgess DUR!!!
Think about it
Wheels brought out for 7 series 1st .... "M" parallels
I Have 2 sets OEM and the came with M badges
Even though BMW Brought these out originally for the 7
According to you guys the boys at my BMW Dealer should hav Crusified me for imagining Having M Badges on my 7
Yes My seven series came with an M style steering wheel as standard
and even has an M power Cover
as for the inferiority complex my car is totally de badged apart from wheels n steering wheel engine cover.
IT WAS JUST AN IDEA I THOUGHT THAT IT B COOL FOR GUYS TO SWITCH THEM WHO HAVE THEM
Dono about you guys but our sports models are M style
CHILL OOT !!

Agreed. Like Dinan, M is not a package. It can be, but it can also be bought in parts. However if you have no M parts (wheels, steering wheel) then I wouldn't go for a body badge.
As for the one pictured above.... hmmm. I could do without the trunk for sure. Interesting idea with the emblems. I think every brand is represented there :D If it ain't supercharged that kompressor logo def. does not belong there. Overall not my style, but it's clear that they put a lot of effort into it.
ibew595 10-25-2004, 08:22 PM Dej4y,
the parts you listed are produced by BMW M sport division. Unless you bought the car in Texas where there is a dealer with the ///M logo anything else would be saying that the car is something special from BMW motorsport. Kinda like fake boobs, look great but when you really get into it ... something is missing. ;-)
The BMW dealer isn't going to call you a moron for having the badges, they still have many more visits they need to squeeze from you.
In terms that relate to you, how about if they put VW/BMW logos on the front end of a Rolls Royce? There is a lot of honor in the grill of the car and you wouldn't like it if I put a RR emblem on a VW Passat.
You asked for an opinion and due to democracy you recieved many.
But as with all opinions you can tell your colony to go shove off.
Uhhh, just noticed your info. name, join date, post count and cars. The people who usually call the 740's "Quarter to Eights" usually are the gang bang hoodlem type.
Dej4y 10-25-2004, 08:33 PM errr I appreciate it but i bought mine with the sports package fitted from factory, upraded suspension seats etc... maybe its different in the usa but we can spec this from the factory few dealers have actual m divisons but alass ya shoulda got it out the factory they way u wanted it eh ;)
I like the would quater 2 eight I find it amusing like when In james bond Q called the seven series differently (british sense of humour dont worry )

Auraraptor 10-25-2004, 08:45 PM Placing just an emblem with ///M is very different from posting ///M7 or ///M8. To count as the later, there is a whole is list of requirements, one of which is an engine designed by ///M.
Even that is not enough. Notice that the 850CSi deserves to carry the ///M8 badge far more then your 7 does, and does not.
Just because you have some of the sport options an ///M does not it make. :nono
Do you have a 'S' coded engine?
BTW, quarter to 8 is a 745, not 750 (10 to 8) or 740 (20 to 8)....

I guess with the price per liter or is it litre of gas( which also comes out of my @ss) or is it petrol??? I am confused :rolleyes
Oh, the price of petrol approaching the hourly wage you actually bought that car for them. Check your figures you stated a 760 was cheaper than a 728/745 :rolleyes

Dej4y 10-26-2004, 09:23 AM well I hate to tell you but US 760li's I have seen for as cheap as $90,000
thats £48,000
and using exchange rates and UK dealer prices a UK
745LI costs £61,500 (113,112.92 USD)
760Li cost £80,500 (148,069.03 USD)
exchange rate on www.xe.com
(uk Dealer verified )
SO yes your 760li's are cheaper

They say that the value of how you express yourself is the same as the value of what you are communicating... and at the very least, the value that you place on it yourself.
If it's not worth it to you to communicate it well, why is it worthwhile for someone to read it?
Food for thought.
