Thanks!! essejM3 10-22-2004, 12:42 PM Whats NASA's website, I think I want to do some races with them. Thanks!! http://www.nasaproracing.com/ jonmacs22 10-22-2004, 04:40 PM I will be there along with the other RRT Spece30 driven by RRT co-owner Barry Battle. Drop in and say hello, the cars are hard to miss (thing gray with maroon vinyl) Jon Mad Dog 20/20 10-22-2004, 06:54 PM I'll be across the way . . . on the lil' loop w/ the NCC bmwcca :rolleyes sunir 10-22-2004, 08:00 PM I'll be across the way . . . on the lil' loop w/ the NCC bmwcca :rolleyes awe how cute, little G is gonna be on the kiddie scoobie doo rollercoaster this weekend ;) :D Mad Dog 20/20 10-24-2004, 02:08 PM Hahaha. Yeah, the JC was OK. I didn't go back for the 2nd day, though. Yesterday was pretty eventful . . . A vette-owner stuffed his car into the tires in 7 on his first lap. Luckily only minimal fender damage resulted. An S4 (re-badged to "RS4") owner blew a turbo right in front of me and "mosquito-fogged" the track. Car was towed home. And an Acura RSX went off right behind me - with only gravel damage. Rode in a Volvo S60-R (4wd, 300hp, cockpit adjustable suspension, etc). The car is VERY impressive. I stopped by the Main Circuit and saw Matt's car. Those little "Legend" racers are LOUD as shit, and apparently pretty quick (low 120's, I think?). Overall, it was a good day at the track. Who's doing the Shenandoah with the Dirty Jersey peeps? JamesM3M5 10-24-2004, 03:00 PM The Legends cars are noisy little suckers. They run 1:28-29 on the main course because they have to use BFG Comp T/A street tires. Barry in the RRT Spec E30 (which is FOR SALE) won the class on Sat. Still waiting to hear about Sunday's race. Spec E30 SO cars (325i) run 1:29 on the main course as well. The Spec Miata guys are kinda ticked, because they thought they were supposed to be faster than the E30s ;) B.Watts 10-24-2004, 03:04 PM NASA doesn't exactly represent good Spec Miata racing. ;) JamesM3M5 10-24-2004, 03:07 PM Sorry goose, I mean Bryan - the NASA Spec Miata guys are ticked that the Spec E30s are faster ;) :stickoutt jonmacs22 10-25-2004, 09:45 AM Barry won on sunday as well after taking the pole in qualifying. jon ///Mracer 10-25-2004, 01:06 PM well I had a shitty weekend. my car broke on the second session of the first day :( . The damn bolts on the timing ring sheared off from the crank pully :confused . So we were able to remove the pulley and bore out the old screws and re-attach the timing ring on sunday. Went back out for two laps and she shut down again. It appears that when the timing ring came off on saturday it damaged the sensor :( . So I got a total of 25 minutes or so on track, what a waste :mad To top it off I did not trailer the car down to the track because the wife needed the truck, so I called AAA to roll back it home, luckily it was within 100 miles, the $60 a year finally pays off :D I need a new hobby, maybe gardening :rolleyes matt sunir 10-25-2004, 02:07 PM well I had a shitty weekend. my car broke on the second session of the first day :( . I was very depressed at the race weekend at Mid Ohio in late may when I crashed out only 4 laps into the first practice Sat morning...nothing major but still kept me out of the entire weekend because we couldn't get the car ready in time for practice starts (mandatory for rookies)...some veteran CR guys helped see me through those bad times...luckily we were able to get the car back in order in a week or so for Putnam Park... a tip, always trailer your car to the track if at all you can...never know what's gonna happen Hammm3 10-25-2004, 05:41 PM My brother Jeff and I went down and raced with the big bore group. I raced on Sat. my brother on Sunday. The race report. We were # 8 Wht/Org M3 GTS3 First time there for both of us. Event got off an hour and half late due to fog. I ran 4 hot laps (not so hot) in the practice, and 4 in the qualifying. Then had my first standing start, very cool but need to learn how to do it right. I could not see the flag stand when and where I staged. There was a Speed Touring GT Porsche a couple a cars up from me so I pick him two watch, HE Stalled on the line, I was headed for his bumper.......then the grass (wet) mud up and over the windshield, it was so cool:-) don't know where I ended up in the field by turn one, but put my head down and had so fun worked up to 5th overall. Then the clutch went to the floor never to come back up. I stayed in 4th for the rest of the race. I know match gears...I was still learning the track, so I did not try and learn that two. Finished up 11 overall. Great time, Made some new friends and will go back for sure. 332 RustBucket 10-25-2004, 11:20 PM My brother Jeff and I went down and raced with the big bore group. I was already on the roll back headed home but my brother said there was a red flag incident that a mach 5 did not catch early enough and he hit another car right in front of pit out and ended up in the trees. I heard the car was totalled but the driver walked to the ambulance. This is just what I heard though. Hammm3 10-26-2004, 08:33 AM Cool! Anyone got pics? Sorry no pics, they may have some up at the site soon. Thanks //Mracer Your brother is right on. I was at start/finish when it happened. It was very bad. Lead cars stooped by start/finish Two FFR (cobras) 4th-5th came out of 10 (last turn) lead cobra hit his brakes when he saw the Porsches and the second cobra hit the right rear of the lead cobra sending him off at over 100 mph. He hit the dirt and then went up into the trees breaking most of the ones he hit (6 in diameter) about ten to twelve feet up. The car came to rest at the line and the rear was on fire, driver was out no movement what so ever. The response team got there fast, great job by them. Driver turned out to be ok. The open top made it look like he may have hit a tree with his head (it would have killed him) He is very lucky, one of the worst I have seen. It was not fun to watch, the race was over at that point. getfast 10-28-2004, 08:51 AM New to the board and late to the thread but I was there with the bronzit E30 in the instructor group. The car was understeering on Saturday in the dry and oversteering on Sunday in the rain. I spun twice (inside of 7 and outside of 3), no harm done. Anybody else going back for the last NASA event of the year (Nov 6-7)? Thanks, Jon |
