Since my car was in a for an oil change, I had my mechanic look at my rear suspension and see what was causing this annoying clunk over bumps. It turns out that I have a worn out swaybar link and now am searching for a new set.
I currently have Racing Dynamics sway bars. What adjustable rear swaybar links do you guys recommend? I've done some searching and it seems like most vendors carry FRONT adjustable sway links and mostly for M3s. Where can I find REAR adjustable swaybar links for my 1997 328i with RacDyn sways?
Here is a link to the Racing Dynamics swaybar links ($50 each, so 2 are needed for one swaybar = $100): http://www.racdyn-usa.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?store_code=1&screen=PROD&product_code=121.70.36.810
Is there a better setup than this Racing Dyanmics one?
Thanks!

Better? Yes. Cheaper? No.
All of the commonly available anti-roll bar links are made with inexpensive metal-metal rod ends that will wear out quickly. Others have found inexpensive teflon lined rod ends that look ok (not great), but still wear out on the street from dust and water contamination. Cheap rod ends are a compromise - cost for durabililty.
If you are on a budget, just buy the cheaper ones again, and plan on replacing them every year or two. BUT if you don't want the hassle, get some NHBB (formerly NMB) rod ends. They outlast all other bearings, bar none, in the auto racing and aerospace worlds. They are very expensive ($40-60 each in the sizes we would use) but they will not wear out.
The Racing Dynamics links look like they would be labor intensive to duplicate on your own, and you'll need a lathe. For $50 they are not that expensive. Or you can check http://www.mscdirect.com and http://www.mcmaster.com for "rod ends". Other vendors include http://www.bakerprecision.com and http://www.coastfab.com/. For NHBB rod ends, I can probably get you a better price than anyone else.
Thanks James.
Will the NHBB links be overkill if I do not really track my car? I'm thinking the FK or Aurora would be a more logical choice, no? Can you help me identify what rod ends and rod end hardware I will need (according to Baker Precision site)? I'm not so sure what sizing will fit my 328/Racing Dynamics setup.
If you could also give me a price quote, that would be great.
Thanks,
Justin
