View Full Version : NJ BMWCCA AUTOX who is going???? Bill 04-02-2002, 02:00 PM 4-7-02 anyone going?????????????? Stylin wanna get you ass kicked :help hahaha j/k Stylin 04-02-2002, 02:01 PM HAHA.. hey now.. if u got a set of track tires for me.. I'll buy new brake pads coz Pirellis and PBRs dont cut it when u get on it. dngo 04-02-2002, 02:27 PM I should be there - I have a '98 M3/4, Titanium Silver. Willy, I used to beat people on R compound tires all the time when I still ran street tires! Come on out anyway. Bill 04-02-2002, 03:08 PM Willy, I have a set of m3 wheels if you want to use them. They have the pilot mxxx3's on them. I am stuck running the bbs's this weekend because I dont have spacers for my other wheels. As far as brakes go , you will be completely fine with your xdrilled with pbr's . You would be lucky if you see speeds above 60mph. If anyone has a course map for this weekend please post!!!! I am trying to get a bunch of people to go like m5 steve , his boy with the S4 and 2 kids with wrx's also there is some kid by me with a animal autofashin kit that i am going to stop by his house and ask. Also If i have time to put new brakes on the 318ti my sister might do her first autox. If anyone wants to meet up and drive to the autox together drop me a email, post here or call me at 732-619-5519 and we'll set it up for willy to cook us some bacon and eggs at his house before we go j/k. :buttrock Stylin 04-02-2002, 03:56 PM Ok.. P7000ss suck handling.. Bills tires sound better. But seriously.. the PBR Deluxe pads cant take more than 3 hard braking sessions before it pads like a wet sponge. The metal masters would of been better... but I didnt know at the time. Stylin 04-02-2002, 03:56 PM and PS.. I aint cooking noone eggs!!! HAHA.. Bill 04-02-2002, 10:28 PM Ok ok dont worry about the eggs. I have tires for you so thats cleared up..... now brake pads........ why dont you order some mintex c-techs or something and we will install them friday night. I have a lift at my house and air tools so shit will be a snap. Stylin 04-02-2002, 11:00 PM Where am I going to get pads from so soon? I do want to check this out.. I never been autox'n. I got some UUC tranny mounts and enforcers I want to install too. Bill 04-02-2002, 11:20 PM There's lots of places around here we can get pads. Pepboys or autozone has Perf. Friction ......steve at ultimate garage has alot too. Last comes to last just order and 2nd day it for friday. Just let me know what your gonna do..... Stylin 04-03-2002, 12:32 AM Check ur PM Bill.. eeeks 04-03-2002, 01:26 AM Where is it? I's like to come and see. Last time I auto-x'd I think I wiped our every stinkin cone in the place.....I came home with orange cone stripes! I suck...but would like to watch... Bill 04-03-2002, 11:13 AM check this site for details. http://www.njbmwcca.org/sched.htm dngo 04-03-2002, 11:13 AM It's down in Camden. You can get directions to the site on the NJ chapter's home page - http://www.njbmwcca.org. The rest of the season's events are in Hopewell and Bridgewater. If you're going to come all the way down, you should drive. I usually instruct, too, so if you'd like I'd be more than happy to ride with you or you can come with me. Bill 04-03-2002, 11:39 AM Dngo, Do you have a clue on what the course is going to be like?? Is it a big fast lot or slow and tighter?? I have never been to the camden autox's in the past so your info will be helpful. dngo 04-03-2002, 12:56 PM No, unfortunately I don't know what the course is going to be like. My first autocross ever was at that lot, but that was a long time ago! IIRC, the lot itself is pretty big. Since I've been autocrossing with NJBMWCCA, we've never had very large lots so I don't know what they'll do with a big one. They usually do a pretty good job setting up courses which balance fast and slow sections to make things a little more fair for all cars. Stylin 04-03-2002, 01:30 PM and rookies.. :D dngo 04-03-2002, 07:01 PM Hey, we all started there too. :) Bill 04-04-2002, 04:23 AM As long as its a nice day i promise we'll have alot of fun:redspot dngo 04-04-2002, 11:31 AM I discovered last night that this event will be held in conjunction with the Philly region of the SCCA, so now I have absolutely no idea what the course will be like. I just hope there isn't going to be like 130 cars there... Bill 04-04-2002, 01:16 PM the 7th is sunday dude Stylin 04-04-2002, 02:06 PM Oh damn.. Sundays I work... :( dngo 04-04-2002, 05:12 PM Bill, Sorry - I meant South Jersey region, not Philly. From PA's Autox site: 2002 AutoX Schedule April 7 --- joint with BMW April 14 April 21 May 4 All events are Sunday in Camden themadhatter 04-04-2002, 05:22 PM If it's Sunday I'll go. I have a Paintball game on Saturday that ties me up all day. Willy, call out sick - I have an extra set of Metal Master Pads (front) that you can use. They are broken in already. I'll race on my EBC Red pads and PZero rubber. so, is it Saturday or Sunday? dngo 04-04-2002, 05:45 PM The NJBMWCCA autox is definitely on Sunday, April 7th. Registration opens at 9, but I'm planning on getting there a little earlier (especially if I'm going to swap wheels and tires.) Willy, too bad you don't have an M3 - I have an extra set of Hawk HPS pads sitting around that you could have used. themadhatter 04-04-2002, 08:14 PM I'm in...I'll be rolling in the evil beemer once again. :evil2 Bill 04-04-2002, 10:31 PM Willy, You finshed under there yet???? Hahaha I couldnt believe what a PITA that was. dngo has hawk pads and i have a set of m3 calipers and euro rotors. If anyone has a set of m3 knuckles you'll be in there like swim wear damnit. -------------------------------------- Guys if you want videos taken of your runs let me know at the track. A friend of mine is going to be shooting video , so let me know before we start autox'in . I am driving the estoril m3 with bbs's Stylin 04-05-2002, 12:47 AM U guys are the best.. :) I appriciate all the help, too bad I work Sundays. I cant call out this Sunday.. crap at work. But I do want to hit up an course.. As long as its on Saturday Im good. I can video it all on my digital camera as well if I was there.. :D I'd have to take someone up on some brakes tho. And you guys wouldnt believe the crap Bill and I had to go through today to install UUC tranny mounts... Bill 04-05-2002, 12:49 AM I just found out that the NY BMWCCA is having a autox at Nassau Coliseum which is much closer to me then camden. Also the Nassau Coliseum autox might be less packed due to the joined run with the pa autox. Right now this is a toss up for me on which i will attend. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!!!!!! :dunno ///Mracer 04-05-2002, 11:44 AM Hey, I did not realize this event was at Camden. I am auto-xing on Sat with the Philly SCCA. I might have to stay in town and auto-x again with the Bimmers on Sunday. Do I have to pre-register or can I just show up???? :buttrock dngo 04-08-2002, 11:26 AM Hey, Did any of you guys come to the autox yesterday? I kept an eye out, but didn't see any cars that looked like yours. If not, you missed a really fun course. There were a lot of cars, but the event ran very smoothly and we were done with 6 timed runs by 2:15. Got in a bunch of fun runs, too. Bill 04-08-2002, 12:15 PM I went to the Nassau Coliseum event. After getting lost from shitty map quest directions to the first run starting around 11am I will never go there again over a jersey meet. The course was huge with times most times over 55seconds and up. ///Mracer 04-08-2002, 12:18 PM I auto-xed on Sat at Camden, won my class, BSP by over 4 seconds and posted the 3rd fastest time of the day by a car, not bad for stock suspension:buttrock Bill 04-08-2002, 01:10 PM I posted 4th in class AAA i was off 3rd by .277 seconds. I need some track tires to keep up in this class or remove something from my car to drop a class. But I feel i did real good on shitty P-zeros against race preped cars. Stylin 04-08-2002, 01:24 PM Imagine going racing on P7000ss's.. :D Bill 04-08-2002, 02:01 PM At Nassau Coliseum the parking lot had tons of sand and gravel plus at 9am the temps were in the low 40's all to make it a slippery track. pzeros p700000000's or slicks they all had problems dngo 04-08-2002, 02:53 PM We had similar temps down in Camden (started low to mid 40s, went up to about 52), but the course was pretty clean. I decided to try using my Kumhos, which worked out really well. The tires got up to about 80 deg. and gave me plenty of stick. I think the sun helped a lot in keeping the pavement warm. I was really impressed with the Kumhos in those temperatures. The big course sounds cool. I'd like to try a 50-70 second course sometime. The small courses are fun, but the longer courses give your tires more time to heat up and are more challenging. Bill 04-08-2002, 05:41 PM What kumhos are your running? I was going to have tirerack send me kumhos before this autox but when i saw the temps for this past weekend i decided to just run street tires. Its great news to hear how kumhos stick in the colder temps. what were your times on street then autox tires?? I am going to have tires on for this next autox 4/28 dngo 04-08-2002, 06:06 PM I have some well-used V700s, 225/45-17. I didn't run my S-O2s, though my good friend (who usually is within .2 of a second of my times) was about 1.2 seconds behind me. I took a ride in his car, and it seemed like his car just didn't have the grip to catch me even though he was driving the wheels off of it. He still managed to win his class, even though every other car in the class was running on R compound tires. |
