Yes, that's right. It's official. Just signed my life away. :devillook

I'll be moving to the Hartford area sometime in late December.

Just took a job with Stanley Tools in New Britain. :redspot

I really don't know the area. Can anyone recommend some decent places to look. I'll be renting an apt as I'll probably only be there a year or so and then be moved to a new location.

I was told to check out West Hartford and I know I'm staying in Farmington when I go up next week, but I really have no clue where to even start my looking.

I know I'll be asking everyone up there but I figured someone here could help me out.

I'll probably have a whole bunch more questions but I wanted to get the important stuff taken care of.

TIA

Contact the CVC BMWCCA. That's the local chapter. Go to their next event or meeting and you will be able to pump them for all the local info.

November 13th they are having indoor F1 carting, check it out.

I used to live in Windsor. Nice location, but probably to far for New Britian. Doesn't Stanley have a relocation assistance type person?

They do, and I've contacted them, sorta. I also talked to someone who started there a bit over a year ago and she's given me good ideas too.

Just looking for anything extra from people living there.

was told West Hartford, Middletown, Manchester, etc...

thoughts?

I live in the Middletown area. I would check out Rocky Hill. They have quite a few apartments and the prices are decent. Nice area too.

I haven't had much luck there but I found two places in Middletown, one in Weathersfield and one in Manchester.

Do you know of any places in Rocky Hill? I can't seem to get any searches going.

What do you know about Manchester? Young people?

How's the traffic to and from New Britain (if you know?)

I really like the place but it seems a bit far out.

I am hanging out with a few of my friends in Rocky Hill tonight so I will get you the names of a few places.

Manchester is pretty cool from what I know, there's a lot of great places to hang out in that general area since UCONN is so close. However the traffic to New Britain will probably pretty much suck all the time...I-84 is a nightmare in the mornings and afternoons.

I work in Berlin, right next to Wethersfield. That's a decent area too. What places in Middletown are you looking at? If I know anything about them I can fill you in. Parts of it are kinda sketchy.

Commutes from both Wethersfield and Middletown would be cake.

in Middletown.... Chestnut Hill and Northwoods...

in Weathersfield is The Villiage at Weatersfield (I like this one)...

Also just found Century Hill in Rocky Hill...

Manchester is out.. great apartment but way too far. I'd rather closer, etc

What's Berlin Like?

Wish I could help, but I'm all the way down by NYC. The average age of a CTValley BMWCC member is like 70, though, so take them with a grain of salt. Great state tho, and Lime Rock is just down the road from you.

Old Saybrook is about 20 minutes from Middletown. Probably about 40 from New Britain. It would be a long commute for you. But yeah, definitely a nice (and pricey) area.

Also my friend in Rocky Hill lives in thet Stepny Place apartments which he says is pretty good. He also knows people in Elms Commons.

Good luck!

Awesome! A lot of the CT guys have meets at Lowe's on the Berlin Turnpike, which is a mere 10 minutes from your new apartment!

sweet...

actually at the Farmington Marriott right now... nice place... too bad I don't have the suite i had last time...

Still pretty damn nice...

I also looked at a place off of the Berlin Turnpike... in Weathersfield... but it didn't even compare.

I dont' know how to get there from my new place... but I will definitely have to learn.

What are the good places in the area to hang out?

Welcome to the CT!! You'll have a good time....If you get sick of the Hartford area, South Norwalk or Stamford have a decent night life.

Century "Thrills" is a fun place to live. Lots of younger people and good parties. Plus, your commute is easy. Hop on Rte. 9 right to Stanley. 10 minutes maybe and it's convenient to hop on Rte 9 to the beaches too.

you better believe i'm excited... why Century Thrills? I'm actually living in the smaller section, not the highrises... almost better... prefer it quiet but with still being able to walk to parties...

It used to be a great party complex. I haven't been down there in awhile though. It was great because for a long time it was mostly kids right out of college, so the placed "rocked" on weekends.

Just get a set of snow tires and you'll be fine. It's not that much colder than Bethlehem.
