View Full Version : Ferrari DE Pictures (56k, NEIN!)
Mikey52 10-17-2004, 10:36 PM Here are some of the better shots I uploaded to my buddies webspace. I have to make each picture smaller so it's taking me awhile to get through all 239 pictures... My friend should have some good scans when he gets his film developed, Ill post them then. I have some decent videos of the event as well, picture quality isnt great but the sound is nice. :) Ill post them when I can find a host. On to the pictures, be patient, the webserver isnt the fastest.

As wierd as it feels, Im actually going to have to agree with you. :)
Great pics, Mike!!!
Man, that was fun. I hope to see you out there next year. As you could see, the novice group is pretty tame. You drive at your own pace with an instructor.
Can't wait to see some more pics!!
(Oh, I accidently left my sunroof open during that session.  I realized when I pitted.)
jterp 10-18-2004, 10:30 AM red x's :(

Yeah i wish i would have heard that -- my last session was a terrible one to end on :(.
The track was soaked and anytime i would even tap the throttle the rear tires would break loose. I got on it a few times going down the straight and i felt like i was dRiFtiNgzzzz the whole time
jterp 10-18-2004, 10:52 AM That's a great pic!!! You look all casual, talking to the passenger.

I was saying "Don't worry, 230 degrees is very low, normal oil temperature."
:D
sunir 10-18-2004, 11:11 AM Mikey...thanks for the pics man, you really got some nice ones from some cool places on track :) ...good seeing you again, thanks for coming out!
terp...how's the car doing? still overheating?
jterp 10-18-2004, 11:17 AM The oil was only heating up on the track -- on the highway it was between 150 - 180 degrees... I'm really starting to think it may have something to do with the oil temp sending unit location..
I am going to call a buddy of mine who is a big mustang guy -- ask him what he thinks -- I mean -- the oil temp at worst was like 240 -- if i switch to synthetic it shouldn't really be bothered by temps like that (synthetic is good to like 400 degrees or something..)
But I'm pricing oil coolers now too .. :D

Some of them are shitty quality because I failed to realize that the digital zoom sucks.

Thanks for the pics guys, they are great!
Tom, nice meeting you. Tell your dad that I have about 10 DE's under my belt now and am ready to co-drive w/Bill next year!
Here's my picture of Andy flossing Sunir's car:
It was good meeting you guys. Too bad I didn't make it out the second day, the weather was great. When is the next one?
nick325xit 5spd 10-18-2004, 12:49 PM The oil temp in my M3 lives at 255 on the track.

Really? are you running synthetic?
jterp 10-18-2004, 01:28 PM terp...how's the car doing? still overheating?
I just talked to my mechanic -- he seems to think that it's not a problem to see 250 degree oil temps while on the track -- :)
He said his boss' cobra (with a big block 427) sometimes indicates oil temps around 300 degrees on the track!!
gsober 10-18-2004, 01:39 PM nice pics i like that black acura! sharp

We were saying in the car, that must make them feel like "damn, I spent all that money to get my azz kicked"

Ferraris are much more diffucult cars to drive fast than BMW sedans, or front engine front or rear drive cars...they are twitchy peaky cars with mid engine rear drive setups...I drove a 360 Challenge car at Summit last year and it was a handful, took a bit of getting used to whereas my M3 was a peice of cake to drive fast, the 360 was much harder to drive after 8/10ths. Some of these drivers were just learning also, perhaps new on track so their level of comfort/confidence may not have been too high...whereas I think Andy's and others (James, Jesse, Nick etc...) confidence levels have increased quite a bit looked like throughout the weekend.

Actually, I remember someone saying that about Ferraris. I remember seeing a qualifying vid of Jeff Segal in a 360 Challenge at RA and he was constantly working the steering wheel.

Jeff's a great example of this...we've talked about this quite a bit and his CMod M3 is much easier to push at or past the limit than the #28 Ferrari CH car they raced in Grand Am.

Yeah, yeah, yeah!! :rolleyes That might be true...but in my mind it was because of, "VVVVVVVVVVVVTTTTTTTTTTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECCCCCCC"
:D
j/k
I hear what you are saying. Like I said before, it's not the car that is fast...it's the driver. :)

Also, I imagine that the steering in those cars is a hell of a lot quicker than an M3, making the car almost darty and twitchy.
Hey, I saw your buddy John-the dude with the gutted E28 M5 and the 355 Challenge at the driver's meeting.
Andy and Greg-
You guys should get a magnetic decal made that says "VTEC! SHYT THAT'S FAST!" for the rear when you pass someone.
THAT would be funny
sure you can, what do you think some teams do to win important series races or championships :) ...drivers are always for hire!
I talking about dudes that buy certain cars and think they will become Shuey as a result.

Hey, I was there that day too. I was doing the BSR accident avoidance training program. :rolleyes
Mostly pretty boring stuff. I did hear the cars scream by every 20 seconds though, so it was pretty cool. I wasn't aware that Blue 360 was a CS.

Would it be possible for you to burn me a CD of all the pics you took of all of the BF.COM people?? I really don't need the pics of the Ferrari's. I just want to see pics of us.

sunir 10-19-2004, 11:20 PM Mikey, you do a fantastic job with pics man...you should take some and submit them to the Roundel, perhaps cover some races and submit them with Brian Morgan's coverage stories (he writes for both Roundel and Grassroots Motorsports)
