Gentleman,

I'd like to set up a friendly race at Capitol Raceway. I own a bone stock 350Z and I have a friend who has a few bolt ons. We're looking for a bone stock E46 M3 to do a few runs with at the track. This is all in good fun, gents. I'd just like to get a video of this. I consider the M3 a VERY GOOD measuring stick to test my car against. Win or lose, I'd even offer to buy a round at a local bar afterwords.

I would like to check this out.

Honestly, I would first test your car against E36 M3's. The best I saw a 350Z run at Capitol last Friday was a 14.2

I already raced and beat a stock 350Z.. Now with the increase in rim size i don't pull as hard as i used too on 17"s and thats an E36 325is.. by the way

I ran a 13.9 at cecil, but I was beat by a 350z which had an exhaust and most likely more mods. However in my old mustang gt that ran 14.9s I had a 350z w/mods beat until he hit fourth and I was revving out 3rd through the lights. I am sure I would have beat the 350z in my M3w/exhaust and intake. I think it is really a drivers race. If you want to race someone I suggest going up to cecil raceway. It is a lot easier to line up next to the person you want to. I'll meet you up there any friday around 6. Good luck with an E46 M3.

I run 13.9's at 101mph with horrible 60's. I know I've improved my launch since my last track visit so I expect to be about a 13.7 or 13.8.

I don't doubt it, anything can happen on the street. Good kill.

Considering what time I get out of work, Cecil is a pain in the ass to get to. An hour and a half to two hours fighting traffic all the way up I-95. I can't go to the track this evening, but if I don't have anything set up for Capitol next friday, I'll make the trip out to Cecil for a few friendly runs. :buttrock

Hey, let us know when you want to set this up!

This would be cool to see. One of of my buddies pulled a 13.8 on a fairly stock E36 M3 (the only thing he had was an intake and exhaust).

I know some guys with E46 M3s, but they don't drag race. One of them might.

You really want to hit the strip early. We were there last Friday and got 2 runs in the span of of 2- 2 1/2 hours. :rolleyes

One time a bunch of us got there at like 5:30 and got like 7-10 runs in 30 min. You ran and then got back in line and ran immediately again. Other than beating the piss out of your clutch for 30 min straight, it was all good.

Andy, my friend has an 03 M3 SMG that he took to Capital Raceway a month or two ago. I think he was having some problems with his launch, but he trapped abound 103-104 mph...
I can't really make plans for when I'm going to be at the track next but I'll try and make it for some friendly runs. Sounds like a drivers race to me.

On a side note, I'll be doing my first auto-x this saturday :alright . I'm a little nervous about how bad I'm going to suck but it will still be fun cause after I can floss my whip at the car show! :pimpflash

Back when I lived in Baltimore, I'd drive out to Cecil cause I didn't have a 9-5 type job. I know its the fastest track around, so I always wanted to go there. Now I get out of work at 5:30pm. Capitol is only 20 minutes from where I work, so I tend to go there.

I know what you're saying about getting there early, unfortunetly I can't get up to Cecil that quickly. Perhaps next week I'll request to get off early on Friday. I'll let you know.

I'm planning on being at Capitol this Friday for test and tune. If any of you gents are there, please come up and say Hi. My Z is a bright Silver color. That's probably a safer bet. I'm not too experienced at launching a bike. I was just going to do half throttle first gear and then feel it out. It still scares me a little, though.

I am curious to see what a basically bone stock (power-wise) E36 M3 can do. What time would we have to get there to get a good amount of runs?

Plan to be there about 5-5:30. I beleive the lanes open at 5 but RACING starts at 5:30 (I read to many of Jeds posts). If you get there around then, you can probably get 3-4 runs in the first 30 minutes. I don't have too many mods so I'd like to compare cars as well. I just need to beat my friends R32, those things are faster than most people think in the 1/4!

Several of us got there at like 5-5:30 back in the spring and had a shytload of runs like-10 in 30 minutes.

All 2001-2003 M3s (except for late 2003s) are getting new rod bearings...

So most M3s on the road nowadays will probably be driving at less than 5500 rpm :(

It's just a continuation of the Rod Bearing recall. I think it's cheaper to replace the bearings every other year than to wait for engines to self destruct. I figure the 04's will be recalled once they have most of the 03's done. :(
