Ok, I just got back from the NYBMWCCA meeting and pitched my Drive inn movie idea again for the 2005 season. Basically I want to set up a Drive inn that is family friendly and a non driving but fun event for the chapter. We need to diversify our efforts in the club.

To be honest it's self serving.

Ever since the Westbury Drive Inn closed I have missed seeing movies from my driver's seat. Nothing beats lounging in your car, watching a movie and doing whatever you want without some fat slob bumping her gunt against your head as she side shimmys past with a tub of corn in the row above.

I pitched it and the board is for it if I can pull it ALL together. Here's where it gets tricky.

I can get the budget for the 10,000 lumen projector, the FM transmitter, a generator and the insurance for the event but the one thing that eludes me is a venue.

I, rather we cause you're all invited need a parking lot that will accomodate 70-100 cars. Some of the main logistical necessities are that we have a wall to project on or a way to drop, tie or drape a "Canvas" over a building so we have a screen(4 king sized bedsheets works). We also need control of the lights, have bathrooms available or nearby and possibly food or allow food venders on site. It's also gotta be legit, no sniper stuff, we need permission and months of lead time to promote it in our newsletter.

This could become a repeat event if we have an open venue, and who can say no to a drive inn? :buttrock

A college campus would be great, a private lot near a business or any other ideas that you have.

Still working on the Copyright infringement aspect for the movies. The BMWCCA a non-profit orginizaton so it's a tax deductable donation to let us show it for an event. The film's owners can write off the normal fees :D

So, what'dya think?

matt might still be able to check out the place across the bridge in tappan and see if they would let us run a movie of our choice?
