Which kit and temp. did you go with? Preppy 10-14-2004, 07:58 AM The person @ Geico said it would take 3.5 hours to install the nosepanel...which leads me to believe it's mroe complicated thatn I originally though. But maybe he's a dumbass :dunno Geico? :confused GolGotha999 10-14-2004, 08:01 AM Everyone should experience first hand, the joys of installing a retrofit HID kit into their BMW. Now that I've done it a million times I could probably do it in 30 minutes, but it takes waaayy longer than that the first few. dcardenas 10-14-2004, 09:35 AM i can help you with the install. but its going to take me 6-8 hours to take everything out of the boxes. And another two days to find everything that you drop in the grass. Preppy 10-14-2004, 01:12 PM Ricky, just do it yourself man, you wired up your whole stereo system in your car, you can do HID's. As for the nose panel, buy a Bentley manual and you'll be good to go. potomac 10-14-2004, 06:21 PM yeah, these two will be pie...this was just a loyalty test to see who would come to my aid. Those who posted will receive 2004 330's and those who offered to help will receive 2004 M3's. Any color. edit: Geico because my nosepanel got bashed by someone. Sean - I'm trying to get 6000k, but paypal has not been going through... GolGotha999 10-14-2004, 09:26 PM ...I'm trying to get 6000k, but paypal has not been going through... :( Not as much light output as the 5300k's...and the 5300k's still have the wikkit color and  brightness! Any reason you want 6000k's instead? potomac 10-14-2004, 09:28 PM I've always been under the impression that the 6000k's had the best mix of hue and output. I haven't ordered yet though.... you have a set for sale? GolGotha999 10-14-2004, 09:30 PM No but I installed a set of 5300k's on mine and I love the color/light output. I was just wondering why you decided on the 6000's. potomac 10-14-2004, 09:38 PM pretty much because of the color...I even considered 8000k GolGotha999 10-14-2004, 09:41 PM Did you get your ZKW's yet? potomac 10-14-2004, 09:45 PM no, the MO should arrive to the person tomorrow. I'm wondering now if I should get HID's or an x-brace and a spoiler...what do you think? AlfaEric 10-14-2004, 10:01 PM no, the MO should arrive to the person tomorrow. I'm wondering now if I should get HID's or an x-brace and a spoiler...what do you think? If the X-brace will help protect your oil pan from all this local road construction, get it. :shifty ---Eric potomac 10-14-2004, 10:37 PM that's true...my bottom is very scratched up. magnetic1 10-15-2004, 12:27 AM pretty much because of the color...I even considered 8000k RICER! You do realize that all OEM HID is 4300K right? The color is not from the bulb, its from the refractive properties of the projector and the internal shield. Upping the color temerature to gain color is the same as replacing a halogen bulb with a tinted blue bulb. :nono Get the xbrace... you had a chance to get it mega cheap from BW, what happened!? potomac 10-15-2004, 12:49 AM my POOR ass could not scrounge together 85 dollars in time. For shame! AlfaEric 10-15-2004, 01:24 AM that's true...my bottom is very scratched up. Definately worth it. I just lost mine today on Rockville Pike. :( ---Eric potomac 10-15-2004, 01:26 AM that sucks...where? and you lost what parts? AlfaEric 10-15-2004, 02:39 AM that sucks...where? and you lost what parts? on Rockville Pike near White Flint (where they have removed the road). It ripped out my oil pan (from what I heard, my oil pan request was at least the 7th BMW today. ) I guess it was time for an oil change anyway. :shifty ---Eric SecretAznSauce 10-15-2004, 03:13 AM buy me a ticket, i am open this weekend, that nose panel can be a bear, it took me about 3 hours to do wushucivic 10-15-2004, 03:39 AM get the HIDs. now that i'm driving around with the stock lighting it's like my lights aren't even on at night. i don't know if you ever saw my lights on but they were 5000K. it's a pretty good mix of blue and light output. branko has 6000K and so does preppy i think. sean has 4300K. just wait for another good deal to show up for an x brace. RRSperry 10-15-2004, 08:09 AM RICER! Enghhhhh, wrong...lol The temp of the light is due to the gas mixture and arc temp (voltage) in the blub. The higher you go in temp, the bluer the light, the worse your eyes perform at night. magnetic1 10-15-2004, 08:46 AM Enghhhhh, wrong...lol The temp of the light is due to the gas mixture and arc temp (voltage) in the blub. The higher you go in temp, the bluer the light, the worse your eyes perform at night. No.. you misinterpreted me. I never mentioned anything about where the temperature was coming from. I meant the BLUE light that people see in OEM HID is due to the refractive properties of the housing and internal shield. People compensate for that by going up in color temperature, which is bad. dave is cool 10-15-2004, 12:02 PM I have 4300k. The light output is great, but my right side is aimed WAY too high. potomac 10-15-2004, 08:50 PM I have 4300k. The light output is great, but my right side is aimed WAY too high. so it was you who blinded me...bastard. sorry to hear about the oil pan though...I'm just gonna do both the x-brace and HID's ;) can't believe I didn't think of it before. GolGotha999 10-15-2004, 11:19 PM ...I'm just gonna do both the x-brace and HID's... Besides those HOTT ASSD 18" BBS RC'S  you have, HID's and the x-brace will be probably the best two mods you do to your car. As bright as my stock halogens were, the HID's made my car 1312313123 times better to drive. Probably THE smartest mod I ever did. potomac 10-16-2004, 12:16 AM in a word...RICH! wushucivic 10-16-2004, 01:13 AM so it was you I'm just gonna do both the x-brace and HID's ;) can't believe I didn't think of it before. good idea haha. are you still gonna stick with 6000K? which brand kit are you going to get? |
