Just wondering if anyone else on this board is a 2002 fan? I'm restoring a 1976 2002 with my buddy. I'm sure were going to need some help putting it back together, so please come out of the woodwork and make some posts!!:stickoutt

Sure from years ago...a big fan. Back in the 70s I had a Capri and a good friend had a 76 2002. We were both in competition to mod our cars as much as possible. Since I had a 2.8 liter V6, I always had him on power, especially after I had the engine built with an Isky cam, Offenhauser manifold, Holley 4barrel, headers, etc. He was running a 300 degree cam, Webers, headers. Check out our cars -- we were ahead of the curve on lower/stiffer springs, big antiroll bars, delrin bushings, camber plates, black out trim, etc, oh yeah and awesome lighting with the Cibies running 100w bulbs! These pics were taken in 1978!:D :D

Wow, is it slooooow here.
Just thought I'd share a bit about my '02
I have a 1973 (round taillight, small bumpers) 2002Tii, Factory Alpina car. Silver/Black
Rebuilt engine
Reuilt injection pump
Jacobs ignition
Dinan Sway bars
Dinan Springs
Bilstein Shocks
75% lock Alpina diff
320i brakes
rear disks
Recaro SE drivers seat
Factory Alpina Cloth roof
Alpina exhaust
LTW flywheel
The car is a nice little package, but is in need of a lot of TLC. No major cancer, although it does need rocker panel work. It was given to me last year by a sponsor and has sat in my storage unit since. Hopefully one day I'll get the $$ to properly clean it up.

Brian,
That sounds like a really awesome 2002tii!! It's going to be a blast to drive once you get it going. I'll never forget a race that my buddy who turned me on to BMWs and 2002s back when I was 13 and he was 16. He started modifying his almost as soon as he got it. I recall it had an Abarth exhaust and some engine work, Konis, Recaro seats -- just don't recall the engine details.
One night in 1972 on the Merritt Parkway in CT, we had a flat out race from Greenwich all the way to Darien (about 10 miles) against a 2002tii. We came up on him, downshifted to 3rd, he looks over at hearing the Abarth, and we took off and got the jump on him. He got by us on a downhill spot, and then he couldn't pull away any further. We were flat on the floor the whole way (and I was scared to death and enjoying it at the same time!) and within a couple of car lengths of each other. This included one long sweeper around the Greenwich/Stamford line which was a bit bumpy at 115+.
We got off the same exit and had a nice chat with him. He couldn't believe that we could keep up with his car. Looking back on it now, I can't believe we did either, so I'm guessing he needed some tune-up work. Anyway, this was my first experience at high speed BMW adventures laying the groundwork for the future in my impressionable little mind :evil2 .
One other thought that comes to mind is how much much faster cars are today. Back then in the early emissions days, 0-60 in 8 seconds was FAST. We all looked back on the muscle cars before compressions were lowered and lamented about how those days were gone forever! Man, how times have a changed :D .
