Little history...126k on engine, new top end at 106k. DINAN throttle body, muffler and short shifter. Stock clutch anyway...
I didn't see what kind of Porsche it was but it was definatly either a 944 or a 928 but anyway, He was about 1 1/2 CL ahead of me and we were both cruising at about 35-40 maybe? We came upon a green light intersection and I was holding my RPMS around 3.5k in third. I heard him downshift as we hit the intersection and trust me it was loud. I nailed the gas and caught up to him and shifted into 4th at about 6.5k. In 4th I pulled about 1/2 a CL on him and looked over to see where he was. Unfortunatly the road turns slightly right and my tires are bald and my suspension is stock so I let off a little bit. And shifted into 5th. He passed by me and accelerated to I'd say 120+ because when I tried to catch up I was doing 120. :buttrock
The road then slowly turns left and he was a good 3-5 CL ahead of me and I'm still in 5th. The road then starts to turn back right, so I cut the turn (apex) at about 85+ and held it down in 5th gear to about 100. I passed him, heard him downshift to try and beat me, but no cigar... :redspot
Keep in mind I haven't had a good race since I got my car in Nov of 03' so 10 months of waiting, I didn't bother to look at what I beat because I knew it was a Porsche. I must say that the Porsche was fast because we caught up to traffic (two cars infront of us) and he passed all three of us uphill. I tried to chase after him but he had momentum so I knew he beat me there. I followed him all the way to his turnout which was a little down the road and never saw him again. I must say I'm impressed that my slightly modded M3 kept up and beat (at one point) the Porsche. So I guess I'm 1 for 1?

(1 month later) Well turns out that yesterday when I met up with my car club,we had a new member... Yes the guy I raced a month ago with the Porsche that I couldn't tell whether it was a 928 or a 944. Turns out it is a 928, but it has a 5.0 V8 in it! I don't know much about Porsches but it sounded really good, and he was a pretty nice guy. He talked a little shit but he knows my M3 could hang with his Porsche. :alright Anyway, just thought you guys would like to know how small of a world we live in...lol
