sigh...

What are the simple things one could deduce from a car with "RUINER" plates. The most basic and all encompassing trait we could assume about the "RUINER" is that he ruins things. Leaves them for ruin. Makes the ol' S52 seem meek and low revving. Nearly ruined. :(

I pass a late model 911 making a right hand turn out behind me... the car in front of me has turned off and I blast down North Druid Hills and bomb the two lane left right there where Roxbury merges. He catches up and bombs on the inside. Nice. We have coordinated movement. :D

Up ahead you turn right to merge onto I-85. Not really enough room for us both to pass on the inside merge, so we get in line and I start sniffing him out for a gore violation. He offers none. RUINER has ethics.

Checking left shows an 18 wheeler coming up northbound but 2 clear lanes to the outside of the 18 wheeler. We are in silent agreement, we'll drift left and allow the 18 wheeler to pass and dive in behind him.

He's moving to the outside and I keep to the inside and we stay on it. I had to come fairly close to the 18 wheeler to maintain my dumping destination and this effects my apex speed, but it is of no consequence, RUINER is on it up the outside. I give chase, but it feels like I'm stuck in glue. I nip the rev limiter. :( We move around the truck and to the inside and pop back up outside briefly reaching that startling moment when it first occurs to you that you are going 2x the speed of the traffic around you. A car hurtles by on the left and the brakes are mashed. Looking in the rear view and seeing the occasional high beam flash that means that not all of the people are pleased.

That silent road racer embarrassment that comes with being side by side with an innocent someone you just passed at 120mph. Pretending that you don't see them. Me? Going 120mph? No. Not this black M Coupe nor that lowered and loud 911 with the deep dish wheels and blacked out windows. We aren't those people.

Ah yes, the RUINER was startling. Really had nice roll on and the engine seemed elastic.

Traffic clears again and I go after RUINER. Denied. He jumps to a good lead and looks to extend it. He pauses briefly to assess traffic and I use that brief moment to almost catch up and RUINER moves out again.

That was fun. I think my record on the street is like 2 wins and 14 losses. Thank god losing has its moments. I think RUINER could give that 1972 Chevelle SS a run for its money up to the 125mph area.

I had ok luck with some 911 cars. RUINER was tweaked for speed.

I'm not sure what the future holds, as it's apparent my car is middle of the pack now. :( I do race faster things though, Chevelle SS, Camaro SS, Lotus V8tt and motorcycles. :) It's too fun a car though not to make faster.

May need to start a project S52 so when this one pops, I have a replacement engine ready. Cams and Moadster's turbo? :devillook

Exhaust, seat swap and a dry cell battery would prolly get 100-150 pounds out of the car. Switching to PS2 tires may save me 2+ pounds per tire over my current S0-3 tires.

Like how I started my post... sigh...

Maybe a M Coupe for Z-06 swap. :devillook

No, It was loud, and had a long elastic pull between shifts.

I wish I could have came up faster around the 18 wheeler. Trying to land on the first left lane so RUINER could move to the outside and then nipping the rev limited kinda killed my run.

I can run with some non-Turbo 911 cars, but modded turbos. Nope.

Nice death count.....at least you lost to a beast.

I just lost this Saturday to a damn Honda Civic Hatch. He had swapped in a GSR motor and gutted the interior, but it still hurt.

I'm also eyeing that LS1/6 swap....FI is cool but nothing beats the linear power of a 500hp NA V8, not to mention the music that it plays. Competition on the street is getting too tough nowadays.....if you don't have at least 350hp, game over.

count_schemula, it's nice to see the story. I honestly had no real idea that you wanted to play else I would have lined up with you more so than I did. That's my fault for not recognizing that you were "that" serious. I didn't want to come off as some prick that was trying to show off. Because of that, I never really got on it as much as I could have (hence why you thought my gears were so long). I believe that I was in either 4th or 5th for those pulls. Normally, I would drop it into 3rd at anything below 90mph and then switch to 4th at around 105mph or so.

I am taking it to the track next weekend, but my first time at the track netted me mid 12 second runs (bone stock with leaking diverter valves, so I wasn't carrying full boost throughout the RPM range) on easy, sub 3000 rpm launches (I should have launched harder being that I am AWD, but since it was my first time at the track with this car, I took it easy). I am capable of 12.3 @ 115-116mph speeds, though. With the exhaust, it shouldn't be a problem and I might pick up a few mph and drop a few tenths on my time.

Your car looked beautiful. I made the comment to my friend and we discussed what engine you might have (S52 vs S54). Maybe we can meet up some other time and do some fun runs and/or discuss some mods. Nice roll cage, by the way.

My mods in case you were wondering: Exhaust and after market diverter valves (BOVs that vent back into the sytem rather than to the atmosphere).
That's it for mods, though. Stock boost, stock air filter, stock suspension. Although, I am about to install some JIC coilovers that will drop it about 1.5" depending on what I set them at. I will probably chip the car and my boost will go from ~10psi to around 16psi. If I had to guess right now, I am probably pushing on the high side of ~430bhp. What really helps me on the highway is that I have gears much like that of a Supra TT. I can take almost any stock 600cc bike from 80mph on.

Beautiful car. I need to introduce you to a friend of mine who has a "lighter" blue 2000 M Coupe w/ exhaust. Nice runs and hopefully we can do it again sometime. I have nothing but respect for Ms. It's a crying shame that Chris Bangle got ahold of BMW...

After meeting the Count at one of our local drive/meet events, I gotta say he's a good guy, and a great writer it seems too. Praise to the M Coupe Count! Muha ha ha!

Hey Ruiner, you should come out to our next BMW meet. We get alot of 'other' car exposure when we meet at Perimeter mall. 600RWHP Supras, turbo'd S2000's, porsche and ferrari here and there, oh and some nice BMW's too. :eek: Good gang of enthuesists either way you look at it.

I 2nd Hugo's idea for a sticky on this one, how often do you hear both sides, (at least on the internet) and they both are in agreement, humble and generous about it? A+ fellas.

Porsche and BMW's unite.
As long as Porsches and BMWs unite towards a common 'enemy' (ricers) it's all good. Both Porsches and BMWs are very high quality, high performance cars. I really don't like American cars for the most part because they do stupid stuff just to make you come in to the dealership and fix a hose or something (waterpump on an 84 Mercury takes a day if you work right)...German car manufacturers were started by guys who wanted...speed, not fuel mileage, or luxury, or any of that unnecessary crap. What I don't like is seeing over 100 different kinds of wood trim in the Porsche options booklet, but no choice of gearsets or anything like that.
Porsche=Speed
BMW=Speed
Ricers=teh suck

http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2942766&postcount=19 So is it 430+ or 415 [see above post]?

This was over a year ago, so either you didn’t do the mods, or you took them off, which was it? So, stock, or not?

I don’t know much about Porches and what kinds of power adders either car had/had, but it highlights the fact that your story telling may not be all that accurate.

Interesting this all took place after the track event. Out to settle a score? ;)

I’m not out to hang you, but you come off kinda prickish with the closing remarks of 3 vs. 0 or whatever it was. Seemed like, whoever got the jump was the faster car.

Nice car and all, but loose the attitude.
You do realize that Ruiner is not a regular poster on Bfc right? And that we all got the required dose of amusement out of this thread over a year ago?

I can't speak for anyone else but I certainly do not care about any extenuating circumstances or the minutia of his mod list. this was simply an entertaining thread from Danny.

seems you're the one coming off kinda prickish :dunno
